Did you know today is National Cake Decorating Day? My mom did cake decorating on the side many years ago. I remember when she made a Barbie doll cake using a large stainless steel mixing bowl to bake it in! She would hollow out the center and put a Barbie doll in it and decorate the “skirt” with fancy ruffles made from frosting. She also made mine and my sister’s wedding cakes! Today is Wordless Wednesday and since I’m still working on my front yard landscaping project I decided to turn today into Wordless Wednesday Fun Day. On September 3rd I finished putting new mulch in Lia’s garden. I removed all her butterfly and Angel statues and raked the mulch around her plants before putting everything back in place. I was excited because this finished the side of the yard next to my quiet corner bench and I knew Lia would be happy to see her garden with the stones around the border and the new mulch. Back in July I started working on my quiet corner in the backyard, I call it a labor of love. It’s a place where I can go and sit in peace and quiet while meditating or reading and hearing the mellow tones of the wind chimes my daughter surprised me with.
