My New Thing for Friday Story Time by Lia
Did the week go by quick for you? I know it did for me. I’ve been busy with school but I also have a new after school sport.

My new thing for Friday Story Time by Lia is that I joined Scouts a few weeks ago! Girls Scouts is for girls but Scouts is now for boys and girls.

I’m having fun learning both archery and shooting. We don’t just learn how to shoot, we also learn about safety for both the bow and gun. These pictures were taken at our Scout Shoot Out day. It’s so much fun to learn how to shot both the bow and gun with my friends.
Words from Ma
Pop was both a bow and gun enthusiast and I know he would be so proud of Lia learning the sport also. This is a text message my daughter sent me after Lia’s shoot out.

When Alex saw the blue butterfly, I know it was Pop’s spirit watching over Lia.

Wonderful to see you’re having fun with the Scouts, Lia!
Thanks Tamara, I’m having such a great time and learning new things too.
That is so cool! I would have loved to do that when I was younger.
It is very cool Barbara! I like learning new things.
How exciting ! My kiddo is a scout too and he also enjoyed the archery sessions ! he loves going on campouts.. it’s such a great experience for the kids.
Lia says thank you and she’s look forward to more scouting adventures.
Oh, Lia, I am so excited that you joined the Scouts! It’s going to be so much fun for you. There’s so much outdoor stuff that you will get to do. I’m really happy that Scouts is now for both boys and girls.
Thank you Alice, I love doing things outdoors and meeting new kids in Scouts is fun.
Congrats for being part of the Scouts! Learning archery and how to shoot a gun is a lot of fun. Your grandpa Rich must be very proud of you.
I just recently started Danwil but having so much fun learning about safety and shooting. Yes, pop would be cheering me on!
Martha, wow, archery and shooting for Lia! I actually had a week of rifle shooting lessons at camp one year. The guys didn’t like my being there, so I switched to the nature class for the second week. The shooting instructor was worried about me not showing up, and he actually came looking for me. I told him the guys wanted me gone. I didn’t understand, but he did. In Lia’s world, I’ll bet guys and girls are more equal? How wonderful. And the blue butterfly!
Thankfully times have changed between “boys” or “girls” only groups. When my girls were growing up, 4H was a big thing and that was for boy and girls no matter what was being taught. Lia gets along great with just about everyone, boy or girl and I think that’s great. Sorry you had a bad experience with the guys, but thankfully that has changed over time. Yes, seeing the blue butterfly made a perfect day.
Lia is growing up so fast, learning to do so many things. Nice to see her having fun.
Thanks Lily, yes she is growing up so fast, sometimes it seems too fast! But she loves adventures and I think that’s great.
Yes!! Absolutely, Martha. I completely agree that that was Rich being there with her. How wonderful! And Lia, I am glad you’re enjoying your time in Scouts. Put me down for some Trefoils in February! 😉
How amazing that Alex saw the butterfly between her and Lia, I feel it definitely was a sign from Pop for Alex and Lia.
