Fluttering Butterflies

Today is Wordless Wednesday and I’m sharing some photos of my fluttering butterflies that I have been watching since they started laying their eggs on the milk weed I grew, growing into caterpillars and wrapping up in the chrysalis then emerging into beautiful Monarch butterflies.

I hope you enjoyed the stages of the Monarch butterfly, it was so interesting to watch from the egg to the fluttering butterflies. Next week I’ll have a story about running out of milk weed!

This is so beautiful 😍. I just looked up milk weed because I wanted to do what you do but apparently it’s an invasive species in Europe… Will have to find other butterfly flowers to plant next spring 😃

I will be adding on to my butterfly garden next year Fran. Depending on you area, you will need to find native milkweed for the Monarchs. I plan to add 8 more plants of that plus some fennel and dill for the Swallowtails and passionflowers for the Gulf Fritillary butterflies. They are all so beautiful.

Martha, these photos are absolutely beautiful! 🦋 Butterflies hold such a special place in my heart and in my work because they represent transformation, growth, and the courage to become who we are meant to be. Watching the Monarchs move through every stage of metamorphosis is such a beautiful reminder that transformation takes time. 💜

Thanks Kimberly, I see different butterflies just about every day in my backyard. I’m excited to be planning a much bigger butterfly garden next year.

You did good, Martha, capturing all this. I’ve seen Monarch butterflies in my garden this year, too.

  10. Martha, they are so beautiful! And bold-looking in their caterpillar state. And they like you! I never before knew someone with a pet monarch walking on their hand. Awesome.

I think the butterflies stop to let me know that everything will be okay Kebba. They don’t seem afraid when they land on me and I always whisper a message for them to take to Rich.

  11. I love this! I love butterflies.
