Rich would have been so proud to see how his family all worked together without any hiccups to plan a wonderful service. My son-in-law took the reins and notified the Patriot Guard Riders who preformed the Honor Mission, a silent flag line to honor Rich’s service as a Vietnam Veteran in the US Army. The American Legion gave a 21 gun salute and I was presented with an American flag by the Army. The Deacon of our church gave a beautiful service and he mentioned how our purpose on earth
Today is Silly Saturday but I’m switching it to Seashell Saturday just for this week in memory of our beloved Pop. My daughter and son-in-law along with their two dogs and their kitty had to return home to Virginia after being with me since last Monday. It was so great to have them here and I know they have to get back to work but I already miss them. I don’t know how I would have made it through this week without them and two of my granddaughters. Today is my first Friday Story Time by Lia blog for the April Ultimate Blog Challenge and I’m so sad. Today is my pop’s memorial service and I’m trying to be strong for my mommy and Ma. Mommy explained to me that Pop went to heaven on Easter morning. After she told me, I picked up Snowball, went outside to sit with him and gave him a big hug for a long time. Everyone loves Rich’s meatballs! He never told me the secret recipe but I did watch as he would mix everything together. He would mix up a huge pot and make “care packages” for the family. For one of our granddaughter’s baby shower, Rich made over 200 meatballs and everyone loved them. Lia loved to help pop roll them and put them in the pan.
