National Lucky Penny Day

I never knew there was a National Lucky Penny Day but I just found out it is celebrated every year on May 23rd. That’s today!! It is suggested that when you are out and about, look on the ground for pennies.  It just might be your lucky day!

Well I have always picked up pennies I find on the ground and call them pennies from Heaven. When my mom passed away in January 2000, I was finding an abundance of pennies and sometime even other denominations. Every time I find a penny, I look up to heaven and thank my mom for looking over and guiding us along life’s journey.

A few years ago our then 20 year old granddaughter was facing major surgery to remove a tumor that was entangled in her spinal cord. When we got to the hotel room, the first thing I did was check for pennies. When our granddaughter got to the room, she opened the night stand and there on the Bible was a penny! It had to be a sign from my mom that she would looking over Alexandra during surgery.

For Mother’s Day this year, I made a Pennies From Heaven plaque in memory of my mom with the pennies I have found. I have it hanging on the wall surrounded by my Angel statues, a very fitting place for it. This is the link to my blog showing how I made the plaque.

Next time you see a penny on the ground, pick it up, it might just be your lucky day!
