How to Come Up with Blog Topics

Do you ever have brain fade or fog and you can’t figure out how to come up with blog topics? Today I’m sharing a few ways I use to write my blog if I don’t already have a topic planned.

Of course we can check Paul’s daily midnight Blogging ideas but I like to write my blog in the evening so sometimes that doesn’t work. These are my tips.

National Calendar Days

If I’m stuck on an idea, I check with National Calendar Day and see if there is a topic that I can write about. I just wrote a blog with two topics on the same day! Thursday was National Make a Dog’s Day plus it was National Nut Day. I didn’t know which topic to use so I combined them both in my blog.

I don’t check the days ahead of time but I just noticed Wednesday is National Chocolate Day! I may have to check my chocolates!

My Photo Gallery

This is my favorite when I have brain fade. I start looking through my photos and it’s easy to come up with a topic from my gallery. I’m always taking pictures so this is a great source for ideas.

Whether it be pictures of butterflies or gardening, dinner recipes or snacks of milkshakes or my chai frappes I can always find a delicious picture and turn that into a blog.

Daily Happenings

This is almost like journaling, just write about your daily activities. I have many ideas for this topic since I’ve been decluttering and downsizing for a few years now. I share updates on my Marketplace finds for my gardening projects, rearranging rooms and of course the adventures of Snowball. I’m hoping I’ll have my master bedroom completed before the end of the challenge to share that project. My friend and I just finished installing the floor Saturday and I finished painting the closet last night. The trickiest part of re-doing the bedroom floor was trying to figure out where to move everything in the room. Now that the floor is in I have to move everything back in!

Days of the Week Blogs

Another way to come up with topics is with the special days of the week. A few years ago my blogger friend Kebba come up with the idea of Silly Saturday where you can post silly pictures, signs or even a silly story. I came up with Spiritual Sunday and then there is Wordless Wednesday, Throwback Thursday and for Friday I have Lia’s Friday Story Time by Lia. At times Snowball fills in for Lia with some of his antics. So there are some cool ideas for days of the week blogs.

I hope you can use some of these ideas for your blog if you ever get brain fade!
