Another Room Makeover
In the January challenge I wrote about A Room of Many Changes where I showed how many times I had changed our front room from a home office, sitting room, Lia’s playroom and back to a living room. I was happy how the room transformed into a room where my daughter could sleep since her senior dog had trouble getting upstairs.

Well that didn’t last long since I was getting rid of the large computer hutch and looking for something not so bulky. But as luck would have it once I removed the hutch, my brain decided to paint the red wall gray to give the room a softer look. I loved it! I found the perfect cabinet to replace the computer hutch and that was just the beginning.

My new cabinet arrived and I put it together in less than 3 hours. I was excited to see how it looked!

I loved the new cabinet but now my wire table by the window looked out of place so back to Amazon to find the perfect replacement. My neighbor pointed out it is monogrammed with the letter “D” for my last name! I didn’t noticed that until she told me. The next change was to move my angel tree into this room and the add some pictures. Me being one to find things at thrift stores, I started my hunt. But I just couldn’t find anything that really stood out to me.

So as I was cleaning out piles of photos and papers I came across a picture I took back about 15 years ago when Rich and I took a trip to Grandfather Mountain, NC. They have a swinging bridge that crossing the gorge and it’s so beautiful. I had printed it out years ago but never did anything with it. As luck would have it, I had the perfect sized frame for it. Since I had two smaller matching frames I went on a hunt through my photos and found two perfect ones. The one is a view from the Blue Ridge Parkway overlooking Gatlinburg and the other is a beautiful tree right next to it. So I printed both of these photos from Rich’s and my last trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway and the room is complete!

I love that I now have framed photographs that I took on mountain trips with Rich and my angel collection the room. It was complete until I came across the vest that Rich wore on our blind date Christmas 1965. I was planning on turning it into a pillow but I wanted to be able to show it off fully. So I decided to dress a pillow and it’s perfect for Rich’s awesome vest and his western tie. Now I can say the room is finished! (I hope! LOL)

Martha, you keep outdoing yourself with these makeovers. I love Rich’s vest pillow! I’d probably hug it every day.
Thanks Tamara! I didn’t planned anything except to paint the wall and get a smaller hutch. But one thing led to another and I just can’t call it quits. I think Rich’s vest was the topping on the cake since it even matches the deep red in the window treatment we designed over 25 years ago! Yes I do hug it daily!
The room looks great! I love that you used photos from your trips. I do that also. I think it makes everything more personal. Love the vest pillow too.
Thanks Mary, as soon as I came across the bridge I know that had to be in the room. The others just followed along. Yes, it’s so personalized now, places that Rich an I visited instead of a generic bridge or waterfall. The vest is my favorite!
Wow, Martha! I admire and envy your energy. I love everything you did. Rich’s vest is beautiful and I love how you show it off. I bet he’s beaming from heaven.
Thanks Lily, I’m so happy with the room now (even though I said it the last time LOL) but changing the red wall to gray gave it a more soothing look. I’m sure Rich is smiling about having his vest and tie there for me to see everyday.
