Wordless Wednesday Mountain Trip

We took a few days to go to the mountains and it poured the entire time! But that didn’t stop us from driving through the Great Smoky Mountains. We saw beautiful waterfalls cascading down the mountain, the swollen Oconaluftee River and breathtaking mountain views. Come with us on our Wordless Wednesday Mountain Trip.

Lia woke up early and was ready to go after checking the weather. After a quick breakfast Alex, Lia, pop and I headed through the Great Smoky Mountains National Forest. Are you ready for a ride with us?

Okay it’s Wordless Wednesday but if you know me, you know I can’t be Wordless. 🤣 This stream flowing down the mountain reminds me of a peacock. Do you see it or is it just me?

It was very foggy above the clouds but all these streams cascading down the mountain were so beautiful.

Wait until you see the view from the top of this path!

I thought this was a cute picture, half of Lia is in North Carolina and her other half is in Tennessee! But look what else we saw on our trip!

We saw some wild turkeys in between the raindrops!

The rain didn’t put a damper on our Wordless Wednesday Mountain trip, we saw some awesome views! If you want to read more about this national park, here is a link for the many things to see if you love nature! https://www.nps.gov/grsm/index.htm

We love this area Dominique. Before COVID we would sneak away every 4 – 6 weeks. This was our 2nd time since last March!

We had hoped to climb Clingman’s Dome, over 6,000 feet elevation but the road to get up to the starting point was closed do to the bad weather. But that didn’t stop us from enjoying everything else.

Hello Martha, thank you for sharing your Wordless Wednesday’s, I loved your pictures and video of the Great Smoky Mountains. This last March, my aunt and uncle took me to that exact location where you took the picture of your great granddaughter, Lia on state line. It was my first time visiting that National Park and I got my NPS Passport book stamped there! Such a beautiful sight, I got to see the falls with lots of icicles hanging from them. I can’t wait to visit again in the warmer seasons! Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures with your family.

Sending lots of love and gratitude,
    Jaime

OMG We were there March 7-10 and made the same loop with the icicles! I even grabbed a huge one to take back to the truck to Lia but ended up slipping on the ice, falling down and breaking the icicle. LOL This trip we planned to go the Clingman’s Done and walking to the top but the road up was closed due to weather. If you get back to the area Clingman’s Dome is a must to visit!
