Turkey Pot Pie Recipe

I’m still making meals from whatever I pull out of the freezer. We usually have ham for Easter but since I had a turkey in the freezer that’s what I prepared for dinner. The nice thing about cooking a turkey there are always leftovers. Today I’m sharing my turkey pot pie recipe.

I remember my grandmother making a pot pie out of leftovers but I didn’t have her recipe so I came up with my own and I was happy with how it turned out.

Turkey Pot Pie Ingredients

1 cup cut up turkey pieces (you can substitute for chicken or even beef)

1/2 can each of carrots & peas (can substitute for frozen vegetables)

1 cup cut up potatoes (TIP: microwave or boil until partially cooked, they will continue cooking in the oven)

1 can cream of chicken soup

1/2 cup milk

Mix the turkey, vegetables, and potatoes together in a bowl then add the soup and milk stirring together.

Crust

Mix all these ingredients together:

1 cup flour

1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

1 tbsp. melted butter (or vegetable oil)

1/2 cup milk

1 egg

Pour the pot pie ingredients in a baking dish then add the crust mixture over the top.

Bake 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until browned.

I was pleased the way my turkey pot pie recipe turned out and it was a great way to come up with a different meal of leftovers since we already had turkey sandwiches the day after Easter. We had turkey for Easter dinner, sandwiches the next day and 2 days of the pot pie. Not bad from one little bird!

  1. Looks and sounds tasty!

  2. Nope, not bad at all! I love chicken pot pie, myself, but have never made any kind from scratch. I bet it was delicious!

The pot pie recipe sounds very easy to make and delicious.

Oh yum. I would definitely use the frozen vegetables and not the canned! But, oh!!! That picture is… making my mouth water! I haven’t made any pot pie but I have been having so much fun cooking! I made a split pea soup with left over ham. Split pea soup certainly makes staying at home all of the time so much easier! I’m just babbling but I think that you understand what I am attempting to say, lol.

I LOVE split pea soup with ham Alice! I agree with you on frozen vegetables but I didn’t have any. It’s been a challenge to make meals from the freezer and pantry but also been fun.

Haven’t tried making a pot pie with this type of crust before. Looks easy and yummy.

Since I didn’t have ant frozen pie shells, I figured this would be the best best thing Kat. I was thinking afterwards, maybe the dough from cresent rolls would work also.

    That looks so tasty.

Looks great. We raise turkeys to sell to the meat markets in November but my wife won’t let us have one for our own thanksgiving. I guess it has something to do with all the work she does to raise them. I like your recipe and it would be easy to change a couple of things to make it keto. Hopefully, by fall we can have one of our free-range birds to the dining table

    • Martha says:

I can sorta see why your wife feels that way Chef William. She works hard and knowing they are going for food, maybe she just doesn’t want to see her turkey on the table.
