Teens That Want to Grow Up Too Fast

I see and read about so many teens that say, “I can’t wait until I’m older” or “I can’t wait until I’m on my own”.  I don’t know whether it is peer pressure from other teens or they just want to grow up quick.  Some see their friends having babies and they want their own.  While some would make great parents, there are some that may not be ready after the baby arrives.   I read a post on Facebook that was directed to the teens that want to grow up too fast.

Why are so many of you young ladies tryna grow up so fast? Love? Marriage? Kids? Y’all ladies are still in high school, enjoy it. Most of you aren’t ready to be women yet, so take your time and enjoy being young. Quit tryna be adults at 15 years old, because the more you rush, the more mistakes you make 💯

When I read this post, it sounded like it was coming from a wise and older person, perhaps a parent, when in fact it was written by an 18-year-old male!  I posted a reply telling the writer that he was so wise for his age and I could only imagine where he will be in a few years.

One of his replies to some of the comments he received was:

“Social media has completely ruined everything for teenagers. Everyone wants to be the next big topic and having a kid gets you attention. That is THE ONLY reason half of these young girls want kids. It’s sad. Everything is for social media now.”

Again, this does not sound like a “normal” teenager with his messages he is trying to get across.

One young female replied:

“Being an adult isn’t fun, kids these days need to stay kids because once a baby arrives, sometimes it isn’t all that great and it’s not as glamorous as they think.”

The young male replied:

“Because things like bills, diapers, formula, blankets, pillows, bottles, wet naps, and car seats and a crib come into play. They don’t factor the cost because most of them think mom and dad are automatically financially responsible.”

Another young female replied:

“Relationships are being ruined because people would rather stalk their social media than to trust their partner & talk in real life. Social media has ruined our generation.” 💯  She went on to say: “Many just want to “show them off on social media” which to them is more important than holding doors open & basic chivalry.”

With that, the young man replied:

“You summed it up perfectly. When I pick a girl up you already know I’m out the car and on the other side to hold the door open. I’m a classic man.  I’m just naturally a gentlemen. Its why I get compliments at work all the time. You will never NOT hear me say Ma’am or sir any time I talk to ANYONE.”

As the conversation was ending, the young man had one more thing to say:

“ONE DAY of working hard can get you a long way. Imagine what months of hard work can do. This isn’t to boast, I had a goal to make $200 today, and I wouldn’t leave work until I did. It took me 12 hours but I achieved my goal and I’m proud of myself 😈💯✊ If you set a goal, follow through. You’d be amazed at the outcome.”

After reading the entire conversation, it was still hard for me to comprehend that an 18-year-old started this conversation and other teens of similar age had the same feelings.  Again I commented on the post saying:

“Wow, this sounds like it’s coming from a wise and older person than you are Zachary. You are so wise at your age, I can only imagine where you will go in a few years. Love you so much!!”

With that, the young man replied:

“Love you too ma 😂 You’re like the voice of wisdom on all my posts” 😂

The 18-year-old that started this post is my grandson who I couldn’t be more proud of.  He works full-time 5 days a week and goes to college the other 2 days.  Things don’t always come easy for him but he is a fighter and he’s taking the right path and not looking back.  With words of wisdom such as these, I have no doubt Zac will continue to always do the right thing.  I love him so much and so proud of all his accomplishments so far in his young life. Watch out world, here comes Zac!
