Super Savings at CVS

The other day I  wrote about not going to CVS this week but after checking the ads, my story changed.  What until you see the Super savings at CVS that I came out with today.

As a re-cap if you missed my previous blog with the breakdown, here is the link:  No CVS Trip This Week

When I plan a CVS shopping trip, I write down the items I plan to purchase along with the prices.  Then I note whether I have any manufacturer or store coupons plus I write down if I will be getting Extra Bucks back.   When I totaled up all my items yesterday then deducted my coupons, I figured I would be paying about $9.00 after using my Extra Bucks from last shopping trip.

For the 2 bottles of Tide detergent, 3 bottles of Pantene shampoo and conditioner, 1 tube of Colgate toothpaste, 1 bottle of Irish Spring Body Wash and 2 Mars candy bars, I paid out of pocket $4.68 including sales tax!   I had planned on getting 4 candy bars with my 4 free coupons but there was a limit of only two, so I still have 2 free candy bars to get next trip.

The extra savings that I didn’t plan on came from my CVS card that had an additional $2.00 off coupon on any detergent, so that was an extra bonus, plus there was another $2.00 off coupon that I didn’t know about.   So from the manufacturer coupons, I saved $12.48 and from the CVS coupons and Extra Bucks, I saved an additional $15.50.

The nine items I purchased cost me $4.68!  BUT THAT’S NOT ALL!!!!   I also received $7.25 of Extra Bucks for my next shopping trip.

So bottom line, I paid $4.68 but got $7.25 back, CVS paid me to shop!  LOL    Couponing takes a bit of time, finding the right coupons for the products that are on sale, but it is very worth the time to save money.

  1. That’s why I buy my almonds at CVS and Walgreens. When they are on sale. Which gives me bucks back to use on other things.

Nice to see you here at the challenge although I never use chemicals in my home — of any kind, so I buy very little at the drug store. But, I do use coupons and they are worth the effort.

I am actually trying to get away from harsh chemicals so I’ve started cutting back on cleaning products. I have started using vinegar, baking soda and essential oils and find they work well plus smell delicious! Thanks for stopped by Carol.

I wish there was a CVS near where I live. There is Walgreens but savings aren’t as good.

We have a Walgreens and Rite Aid, both within a few blocks from CVS. I use to go to the different stores for sales but then I found I was actually spending more because of the time going to 3 stores. I’ve since changed my habits to just CVS. The more I spend, the more I save. Thanks for stopping by Sandy.

That is very impressive. I’ve tried my hand at couponing, but it just takes me so bloody long. I figure the time I spend couponing is worth more than the money I save on coupons. Also, I tend to buy things I don’t really need. That being said, sometimes the mere fact of it is like a game and it’s worth it just for that. What do you think?

    • Martha says:

I have a system Monick that goes rather quickly. First I have my shopping list, then I look though the weekly fliers to see if the product is on sale. After that, I first check my coupon sections that came in the paper, then I go online to print off those I need. I find you have to put blinders on when shopping or extra things can “jump” into yur cart. LOL. Mohave a lot of self control and only pick up what I go in for. Every once in awhile, there may be an unadvertised special, like a mark down on meat, that is too good to pass up. Start couponing slowly, maybe just one catagorie say cleaning products. Then it won’t seem so overwhelming and time consuming. Thanks for visiting and let me know if you try my ideas!

just a typical CVS trip for you, getting paid to shop! ? I love CVSs rewards and coupons, they help you save quite a bit (especially with MFR coupons on top of that!)
