No CVS Trip This Week

As I took inventory of the things I have, I told myself there would be No CVS trip this week since I didn’t need anything.   I love finding deals and using coupons but I am not a hoarder or go to the extreme when using coupons.    Well I innocently started flipping through the CVS flyer and kept telling myself, I don’t need anything.  As the special offers looked more inviting, I told myself again, “just keep flipping the pages”.   So I did that, I flipped through the entire CVS flyer and didn’t write anything down on my shopping list!!

UNTIL…………………………………..  I looked again at the big ad on the front page that said “$5 ExtraBucks Rewards when you spend $20.00 on any of the products listed“.  Hmmm, I need to rethink my “no CVS trip this week” again.    One of the items they had was Tide, on special for $5.94 per 37 – 50 oz. bottle.  I love Tide and can always use this so if I got two bottles of Tide, I only needed to spend about $8.00 more to get $5.00 back.  The other product that caught my eye was the Pantene shampoo and conditioner (I product I love and always use) was on sale for 3 for $12.00.  This put me over the $20.00 needed so I was set for stage two.

I went online to check on what coupons were available and I hit the jackpot.  I got two Tide coupons for $2.00 off each bottle, bringing them down to $3.94 each.  I also had a $5.00 off coupon from the paper for the Pantene, so that brought the price down to $7.00 for the three bottles, not bad at all.

For the two Tides and three Pantene products the price will be $23.88 but after I deduct the $9.00 worth of coupons, it’s only $14.88. Not bad for all that, but don’t forget, I then get $5.00 ExtraBucks back on this purchase.

I had all good intentions to end my list there until I saw the Irish Spring Body Wash on sale for $3.49 plus receive $1.50 ExtraBucks back. I found a $1.00 off coupon in the paper so out of pocket will be $2.94 but I still will have the $1.50 ExtraBucks so I did good there too.

Okay, now I was done with my list, nope not quite, I saw on the back page I can get a $2.50 off coupon at the Extracare Coupon Center for Colgate toothpaste.  That’s on sale for $3.00 but with my 50 cents off coupon, I get that free!

My list was complete until I remembered I had four free coupons for my Mars candy bars I won from a contest.  They are on sale this week for 99 cents plus I’ll get 75 cents ExtraBuck back.

Okay, promise, my list is complete!  If I calculated everything right, I will get 2 Tide, 3 Pantene, 1 Irish Spring Body Wash, 1 Colgate Toothpaste and 4 Mars candy bars for less than $20.00 PLUS I’ll recieve $7.25 ExtraBucks back.

cvs8

But wait, I have $11.00 worth of ExtraBucks from my last shopping trip so I can use those to bring my total down to less than $9.00 for all these items!

Stay tuned for a follow-up of how my CVS shopping trip went!

You probably know all too well, that some sales are too good to walk away from! Working on my following up blog on my shopping trip. Thanks for visiting Andria!

That was a big mistake – ”just taking a quick look” – which always results in buying something!

That’s for sure Bill! I usually have good self control about buying things I don’t need, but when they are fairly close to free, I have to rethink. I actually saved more than I figured! Stay tuned for the follow up of my shopping trip. Thanks for visiting!

Wow, that’s some shopping trip that wasn’t originally going to happen! There are some sales that are too good to pass up on! Looking forward to the follow up blog.

I am very frugal when I shop, if I don’t need something, I usually don’t buy it. BUT… there are excepts when I find deals like these! When I get great sales on shampoo and toothpaste, I donate them to shelters. It’s a win-win for everyone. Thanks for visiting Alice, and be sure to check out my follow up blog tomorrow, I actually saved more than I thought!
