Silly Saturday and Baking
Today I’m half way following Paul’s daily prompt. He suggested to share favorite photos from you niche or personal photos from your latest traveling adventure. My great granddaughter Lia is visiting me this summer for a month so this is more about her adventure but it’s also from our niche since it’s about baking.

But it’s also Silly Saturday and I found a way to combine the two! Yesterday Lia invited our neighbor Judy over for a baking day. We made blueberry muffins from the fresh picked blueberries my neighbor Donna and I picked last week. I freeze them and it’s easier to make muffins that way. Then Lia decided she wanted to make a cake. She didn’t have a recipe in mind but started pulling ingredients out of the cupboard. Other than the normal flour, sugar, baking soda, flavoring, etc. she grabbed the bag of Oreo’s and then mini marshmallows!

She mixed every thing together than added some crushed Oreo’s and the final addition was the mini marshmallows. While Lia was adding her glaze over the cake Judy did a photo bomb and I was right there with my camera! So this is my Silly Saturday photo!
Lia’s Surprise Cake

Lia mixed all the ingredients together than grabbed a handful of Oreo’s and put them in a zip lock bag. She then proceeded to crush them with a hammer! After they were added to her batter, she dumped mini marshmallows in with them. Lia decided she wanted to make a tiered cake so her and Judy started filling the pans. When they came out of the oven, the cake smells so good!

Next Lia made a frosting glaze. She started with pink food coloring then added teal and once it was mixed together it ended up as a pretty royal blue. As she was carefully dripping it over her cake, that’s when Judy stepped in. LOL

I think Lia may want to call her cake the Sugar Overload cake. But she’s not done with it yet.

The final step was adding a variety of sprinkles and gold dust. Her cake was so moist and mouth watering delicious! Lia was going to her grandparents for the weekend so we put the top layer in box for grandma and grandpa. Lia loves being creative in so many different ways but I love to watch her when she is baking. My mom was a cake baker and decorator and I know she would be so happy to see Lia following her passion.
Ending with another Silly Saturday Picture

I invited my neighbors, Judy and her son Andrew over for dinner Thursday evening. The both love my pulled pork and beans! After dinner was over, we sat at the table chatting and Snowball jumped up on Andrew’s lap. He was sitting there just looking around maybe waiting for a tasty morsel of something. Finally he put his head on the table looking sad as if to say, “I can see there’s nothing here for my to eat!”
I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday, will it be silly for you?
