Sharing My Two Cents

Gosh there are only eleven days left in the January Ultimate Blog Challenge. So far I’ve managed to write a blog each day even though some days weren’t the easiest since I was down with sinus infection and bronchitis for over a week. But where there’s a will, there’s a way! I’m following the lead of the suggested topic today and sharing my two cents.

As usual, I like to think outside the box and while sharing my two cents isn’t an opinion about anything controversy, it’s about my two cents with my eyelash. What could my eyelash have to do with my two cents??

Well my day started out at the emergency room because for the past 4 or 5 days my eye has been very red and painful every time I blink. Last night I took a picture of my eye since hubby or I couldn’t see anything but with the picture, I saw an eyelash on the white part of my eye.

After doing all the normal things to try to remove the eyelash, hubby hauled me off to the ER this morning because he was worried it might be a small tear or scratch. The doctor was great, he put numbing drops in my eye after he warned my they would burn and burn they did! He then checked out my eye and saw the eyelash. But the reason I couldn’t remove it like normal was because it was under a layer of some film.

Of course I don’t remember what the term was the doctor said but he described it like a cut and a layer of skin covers it. That’s what happened to my eyelash, a filmy layer of fluid covered it and the eyelash is underneath, unable to remove like normal. The doctor didn’t want to chance scratching my eye so he called the ophthalmologist for advice. Bottom line is I have an appointment at 8:00 AM tomorrow morning with the eye specialist and hopefully it will be easy to remove.

So as we were leaving the exam room, I looked on the floor and found a penny! I know it was sent from heaven by my mom who passed away on January 15, 2000.

As we left the pharmacy with my prescription, I found another penny in the parking lot! Since my dad passed away today in 2006, I think he left me this penny.

I thought it was quite ironic that my blog topic, Sharing My Two Cents, is the same day I found two cents. My opinion is they were pennies from heaven from my mom and dad letting me know they are always watching over us. I miss them both so much but happy they are forever together again.

How beautiful to find two pennies from heaven today! Your folks are smiling down on you.

And I also smile back when I find the pennies they are sent down Kandas. It’s just a little way to let me know my mom and dad are still with me.

I love your take on the two cents. Congratulations on posting every day. I have missed a couple of days of the challenge, usually because I overcomplicated things. Sheesh. What a creative way to figure out what was going on, with a picture. Pennies from heaven is right, my husband sometimes sends pennies, sometimes nickels or dimes. Wonder why they don’t send us hundred dollar bills? 🙂

    • Martha says:

Thanks Nita, this has definitely been a challenge month but I’m persistent! Actually my mom sent me a $10 bill one time! Keep picking up your pennies, nickels and dimes from your hubby, he is with you always. <3

That is awesome about the pennies! I hope the eyelash removal goes smoothly tomorrow. My mom’s mom (grandma) would always pick up pennies and thought of them as good luck. My mom would always give pennies to people for their birthday, with the year of their birth on the penny. Now, whenever I see a penny I pick it up as well. 🙂

I remember when I was young, my grandmother told me they brought luck too Jen, they still do knowing my mom and dad are watching over us. That’s a neat idea about giving pennies with the birth year! Thanks for stopping by, keep looking for the pennies.

Wow! I didn’t know that could happen. I had a small bump come up where my tear duct is a few times. It was similar to a stye except it didn’t hurt. I finally figured out that taking off my eye makeup with tissue paper was making tiny paper particles irritate my eyelid and clog the duct. I now use a cloth with makeup remover to remove eye makeup. I know you don’t wear makeup, but maybe my info will help someone. Keep us updated on your progress with your procedure and I wish you the best. I will pray for you now.

Glad you figured what caused your eye problem Wendy. I just may use your makeup removal tip in a blog! The eye doctor was able to remove the embedded eyelash and it’s already feeling better!

When I started reading this post I didn’t know what to expect. So glad your husband took you to the ER on time. Eyes need special care and those two cents are exactly what you said they were. Stay blessed you have angels watching over you.

I tend to keep my readers in suspense for a while Amrita as I wasn’t sure how I was going to incorporate the blog topic, the pennies and eye all together. Thanks for stopping by.
