Our Newly Renovated Church
Back in mid January our church Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church was closed for renovating with new flooring and pews. Our services were held in the school hall attached to the church. The goal for completion of our newly renovated church was Palm Sunday.

The school hall turned church temporarily held about 500 people compared to our church with a capacity of 1500. It was tight but everyone made it work.

Since the church was off limits while the work was being completed, we were all anxious to see the progress. In February they posted photos of the beginning stage. All the old pews and flooring had been removed and the new flooring was being installed.

An announcement was made at Mass the week before Palm Sunday, the church renovation would be completed in time to have Palm Sunday Mass back in the church! This is a view from the balcony showing the new floor and pews.

I took the first photo before the renovation started and the other is when the renovation is completed!

The entire project took about 8 weeks and how wonderful to have our Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday Mass in our beautiful renovated church.
May you all have a blessed Sunday and a beautiful week.

Your church looks very modern. The interior design and cathedral ceiling look cool. The renovators did a good job. Thanks for sharing the photos.
Thanks Danwil, yes this was built in 1994 and while it’s modern it’s still beautiful. However I do love the older style churches like the one we were married in, that was built in the early 1900’s.But we have to go with the changing times.
So, growing up Catholic, for me, church means stained glass windows with hints of ancient architecture. In my mind, Catholic churches are supposed to transport me back in time – like Mission San Juan Batista. The first time I entered a modern Catholic church, it sort of made me feel, uncomfortable.
I love the older churches Kandas. We got married in St. Anthony’s in Schenectady NY and that was built in the early 1900’s, such beautiful large stained glass windows and architecture. In 2014 there was a major fire in the church and I was so happy 2 years later when we visited it to find they restored it to the original “old” look. Our church in SC was built in 1994 just before we moved here.
