National Sprinkle Day

This is so exciting, I never knew there was a National Sprinkle Day! They must have made this day with Lia in mind since she LOVES sprinkles and puts them on almost everything!

So today, July 23rd, is your day to put sprinkles on your ice cream, cookies, cakes, and even milkshakes! With all the different colors and shapes, sprinkles seem to bring out smiles.

It’s no wonder Lia smiles so much, she’s full of sprinkles! She even adds whipped cream and sprinkles to her pancakes! Mommy get’s creative when making her tiny pancakes, this is a flower all decorated with sprinkles!

Lia’s baking cupboard is filled with a variety of sprinkles and some are even edible glitter spinkles! If you ask her, sprinkles are good on everything! So go grab some sprinkles and add them to your favorite dessert or drink!

This was Lia’s first attempt to frost and decorate a cake all by herself. After she spread the frosting, she started to decorate it with a variety of sprinkles. Then she added a heart shaped cookie cutter and loaded sprinkles in the heart. She gave pop the first piece and he loved it!

Sometimes we use small sparkle sprinkles in one color on our Italian cookies, other times we use a variety of colored sprinkles in different shapes for them.

Do you think Lia put enough sprinkles on her brownies? Even the cake flavored white chips have sprinkle in them! This could be called sprinkle overload, the brownies were so good!

How about adding sprinkle in your homemade ice cream? Lia has an ice cream machine and she loves to make different flavors of ice cream and you guessed ir, she adds sprinkles to it!

Take your pick, what would be prefer one of the delicous smoothies or a chocolate milk shake, all topped with sprinkles?

This one really takes the cake or should I say cookie! Lia made chocolate drop cookies with DISCO semi-sweet chocolate chips with edible glitter! She then added glitter sprinkles to the top of her cookies! Me being creative also, made a whipped cream sandwich from two cookies!

Lia came up with her own recipe for cookies, she just started by pulling ingredients out of her cupboard and mixed them together. Of course she added sprinkles! Here is her fruit cookie recipe, including sprinkles. Lia says by adding sprinkles it’s like adding sunshine to her recipes!

I was thinking back to when Lia was a little over two years old and she came up with her recipe for Lia’s Sweet Chicken. As she was going through the cupboard for ingredients I asked what she was looking for. She told me sprinkles! Who else besides Lia would add sprinkles to chicken? LOL

Since today is National Sprinkle Day, I thought why not keep my blog fun and full of sprinkles today! Do you like to add sprinkles to your recipes, what are your favorite ones? Blog on with sprinkles!

Even without this post I would have thought of Lia today! I had no idea she put them on chicken, too, though 😉

I especially loved the sprinkled brownies. You made a rainy day lots of fun!

  4. Martha, I started early today with sprinkles. I woke up around 3:30, went outside to greet God and pray, and I was sprinkled on the whole time! Happy National Sprinkles Day! …But I think you’re talking about the baking decorations. When I was a kid, there were only several colors of sprinkle-sugar and some tiny silver balls. And one size of chocolate chips. I LOVED those tiny silver balls. Btw, for lunch today, I cut boiled eggs in half and sprinkled them with fine bacon sprinkles. Delicious! Wow, looking at your images, the world of sprinkles has certainly opened up since I started baking many years ago!

I was thinking about starting the sprinkles with the rain Kebba! I remember those tiny silver balls, my grandmother decorated lots of Christmas cookies with them. Oh bacon sprinkles sounds delicious on eggs, I’ve made deviled eggs with bacon bits and tiny pieces of tomatoes then but on a bed of lettuce. It’s like a tiny BLT with an egg!

  5. I love sprinkles. 🙂
