National Root Beer Float Day

National Root Beer Float Day is August 6th

Now I love root beer floats but when it’s National Root Beer Float Day I go all out on my recipe! This is my simple, overload on ice cream recipe for my root beer float.

I start with about an inch of root beer in the bottom of my glass. This keeps the ice cream from getting stuck at the bottom. You can use your favorite ice cream flavor but I used both chocolate and vanilla. I added a scoop of vanilla, a scoop of chocolate, repeat and top with another vanilla scoop. Did you count them? Yes it’s five scoops but it is National Root Beer Float Day and if I’m going to celebrate, I’m going all out!  Next I slowly pour in the root beer to fill the glass.

Of course a root beer float isn’t complete until you top it with whipped cream!  As the ice cream melts, the root beer mixes with it and becomes creamy and so delicious!

So go grab your root beer and ice cream and whip up a delicious float for National Root Beer Float Day! But don’t think you have to save this for National Root Beer Float Day, this recipe is good for any day!
