My Niche and Lia

Today is Day 2 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge and the topic is how you got started in your niche. When I started my blog the end of 2014 I didn’t even know what a niche was! I started a blog for product and book reviews but within a few months that quickly changed. I started sharing money saving tips, freebies and helpful hints. From there it went to my photography, sharing quick and easy recipes and meal planning to save money. Of course I wrote from the heart about my family which turned out to be my most exciting part of blogging. You could say I am all over the place in my blog. But as I kept blogging I finally figured out my niche! I would call it family and life if I had to come up with something. This is my story about my niche and Lia.

For the newbies in this challenge, the most exciting part of my blog was when my great granddaughter started her own category on my blog when she was about 8 months old. She turned 2 years old in August and has been writing a Friday Story Time by Lia blog. Her stories are baking, cooking, tid bits of everything and lots of humorous posts and smiles.

Her latest stories are about her 10 week old Beagle puppy Rusty which we got 2 weeks ago! http://themarthareview.com/my-road-trip-to-find-a-puppy/

Once I start writing a blog my mind keeps thinking of things on the subject and I just keep typing. I’ve had a very exciting last six months and watching my stats go up has been very interesting.

I have been tracking my stats for the past six months when I did blog challenges and it’s fun to which the numbers go up, up and up. This increase is all because of my blog followers who view, comment, like and share my blogs.

Since April when I started the six monthly challenges in a row I have written a total of 219 blogs and 69 of them were with Lia the Baby Blogger blogs. I have a list of blog topics for the October Ultimate Blog Challenge that I can’t wait to share.

Lia says: “HEY WAIT MAMA, YOU DO KNOW IT’S FRIDAY STORY TIME BY LIA TODAY, DON’T YOU? BUT I CAN SHARE THE BLOG POST WITH YOU TODAY! ALSO I HAVE A LIST OF BLOGS TO SHARE FOR THE MONTH TOO! IF YOU LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF BLOGS I WROTE, IT’S ABOUT 1/3 OF ALL THE BLOGS SINCE APRIL! SO MY BLOGS HELPED WITH THE STATS!! PLUS I SHARED LOTS OF SMILES ON MY BLOGS!

Yes Lia, you played a major part on the stats and I can see you writing more and more blogs! You can see Lia has been a big part of The Martha Review blog and with her infectious smile it’s no wonder everyone loves her. To keep our blogs seperated I added her name as the Author when she posts a blog.

I also changed the gravatar since Lia has been a big part of my blog. It now is a picture of me with Lia, my partner in writing!

Do you have a niche for your blog or are you like me and float from here to there? I know since Lia joined me with her Friday Story Time I am having so much fun when her and I blog together. We are making so many memories that I will turn them into a book and give it to her on her 18th birthday.

  1. I love your focus on family, and your posts about Lia!! I have a style niche, so am not all over the place with my blog, but I have been all over the place with what kinds of blogs I have wanted. And even now, I think of topics I might want to “add on” to this one. After all, there are so many interesting things to talk about, right?

You could probably expand on styles is many different ways Jeanine. When I started blogging it was only for product reviews, I never thought it would be were it is today! Lia has added so much to my blog and I’m so happy about that.

You guys are awesome together. Lia is so cute, as always. BTW, you picked a very good niche in family and life 🙂

    • Martha says:

Thanks Jojo! I never knew what my niche would be, the family and life just came to me, I didn’t have to look for it. I love that Lia has joined in blogging with me.

I have two blogs. SO, I have two niches. The Spiritual Mystic is my spiritual niche. Writer Brenda Marie is all about writing and different types of writing.

  4. Glenda Cates says:

I loved when you had the site to yourself and Mommy came and posted some but now, its even more fun with Lia and one day I bet I see Rusty blogging as well. Have a good weekend.

    • Martha says:

OMG you gave me an idea Glenda! Yes, Rusty will have to write a few blogs now and then. That is if we can get Lia to take a break from her Story Time!

  5. Martha, how delightful to hear what you’ve been up to lately. I had been “on leave” from blogging, so I completely missed Lia entering the arena. What a lovely and dear little human she is. I look forward to hearing more from both of you. <3

I’m so glad you entered the arena again Kebba. I have been having such a great time writing blogs with Lia. She has a category on my blog, Lia’s Likings the Baby Blogger if you want to see some of her stories you’ve missed. Some are hilarious but all are full of her sharing smiles. Glad your back!

  6. I’m all over the place in my topics, so I have a blog for my doll, a blog for family history, one for nostalgia about my mom, and a few others. For this challenge, I’m daily blogging about dolls.

I love your blog and seeing Lia grow up.
