My Major Fun Project
Good morning to everyone and hope you have a good start to your week. We are in the home stretch of the April blog challenge, only 10 days left! Have you after done a simple project and it mushroomed into an entire day? That was me yesterday when I washed my car.

Since my road trip a few weeks ago to Cherokee my car was a “bug” mess! I kept stalling to wash it but yesterday I decided to tackle it. My grandson in Indiana owns an auto detail shop and he would not be happy to see my car this way.

The first picture doesn’t show all the bugs but this was the worst of them. Same with the tires, they had lost their shine along the mountain roads. But after using some elbow grease I was happy to finally have a clean car again. I only wish I could fit it on the garage… and that’s where the rest of the story begins.

I looked at the almost empty side of the garage and after measuring it, I figured I would give it a try. I slowly backed in, made it with a few inches to spare on each side but then I couldn’t open the door to get out! Luckily I had my work table close by so I slid over to the passenger seat and climbed out like the stock car drives do! I realized this wasn’t something I could do every day plus the garage door couldn’t shut since I needed to rearrange some things behind the car. This is where plan B came into action as I carefully pulled the car back into the driveway.

Some of you my remember when I cleaned, decluttered, reorganized and tossed so much in the garage and my 12′ long work table was totally organized. I had thought about cutting 4′ off the length to give me more garage room but all I did was procrastinate about that idea. Until yesterday! Since I was so close to getting the car in the garage I went to work. I didn’t have a circular saw so my neighbor brought my hers to borrow. Well she ended up staying the afternoon and helping me with my project. Neither of us knew exactly what steps to take next but we just started ripping off the canvas, unscrewing parts of the table legs then took the saw and winged it right through the plywood and 2×4’s.

NEVER UNDER ESTIMATE THE POWER OF A WOMAN, I MEAN TWO WOMEN! LOL
The table was shortened but I needed to move it about 10″ over so I’d have room to open the car door and get out easily. Before I could even attempt to move this monster of a table I had to take everything I was storing underneath. That part was done but I couldn’t even budge the table, when my hubby built this for our interior decorating shop back in 1994, he built it to withstand a hurricane. LOL

Once again, my next door neighbors came over at the prefect time and Carl pushed the table over like it was a pushing a card table! Him and April guided me in the garage and it fit in the width and length! I have some of the best neighbors that are more like family.

I have enough room to open the door and even Snowball approves of the new set up! Since I have extra space where the 4′ was cut off, I turned that into Snowball’s “lounge” area complete with his grooming table.

So what started as a simple car wash turned into a fun day of making room in the garage for my car. I couldn’t have done this without the help of some wonderful neighbors, Dye Ann, April and Carl. Now off to the landfill!

Awesome Job. I don’t think I could have driven a car into that tight a space. Well done everyone!
I backed it very slow Janice! Not sure if I could have done it with Carl and April guiding me in or having my backup camera with the side lines. I’ve got it down great now, follow the lines on me camera and line them up with the squares on the garage floor.
Lots of hard work! Plus, you have a mighty fine friend there. Things can get done when you have help and support. Job well done.
I’m so happy I finally tackled this project Eydie and to think it started by washing the car. I do have super special friends that are now like family.
Wow! That certainly turned into a huge project! But you accomplished a lot, so that is great! So happy you had neighbours to help!
And to think all i was going to do was wash the car! I have the best neighbors Diana!
