My Addiction

I feel it’s time to let my readers know about my addiction. It’s only been a few years and my daughter is the one who got me “hooked” on drinking. But the strange thing is, she doesn’t even drink but I got addicted to this when she sent my a few cartons!

Yes I am addicted to Chai tea, whether it be hot, iced, or a frappe. I can drink it any time of the day or night, it’s just so refreshing. There I’ve said it and now you all now about my addiction! Chai tea is actually black tea with a blend of spices – ginger, cardamom, cloves and cinnamon. It does have sugar and caffeine in it also. It comes in the forms of tea bags or concentrate. The concentrate is usually what I prefer because I can add as little or as much to my drink. I always add extra cinnamon to my Chai tea and it’s so refreshing to sip on a cold iced or frappe chai in the hot whether. In the evening I prefer a cup of hot Chai tea usually with a biscotti biscuit. I make my recipes with water, milk or even flavored coffee creamer.

I thought this would be a good time to share some of my recipes in case you want to get addicted to the delicious tea.

Hot Chocolate Chai Tea

This is one of my “specialty teas. I warm a cup of milk with your favorite flavored coffee creamer then add a packet of hot cocoa mix. Heat the in the microwave then add Chai concentrate to taste. At times I also add a spoon of confectioners sugar then whip it with my frother before adding whipped cream and cinnamon.

Regular Hot Chai Tea

This is my regular hot chai tea that I love to have in the cool evenings. It’s so easy, just warm water or milk (I prefer milk) then add Chai concentrate and top with whipped cream and cinnamon. It’s quick to make and delicious to drink. Or just have a delicious cup of hot Chai tea made with water with the concentrate added.

Chai Tea Flavored Frappes

I get a little carried away making my Chai tea frappes. I start with about a cup of crushed ice in my Ninja blender cup then add a cup of milk and flavored creamer if I have any of hand. After it’s all blended I check the consistency and add small amounts of water at a time if it’s too think. If it’s too thin I add a few spoonfuls of confectionery sugar. After it’s the thickness I want it I add the Chai concentrate and blend together. The first picture is drizzled with chocolate syrup and topped with whipped cream and cinnamon. But my favorite Chai frappe is drizzling it with raspberry syrup then topped with whipped cream.

Basic Chai Tea Frappe

If I’m in a hurry I make a simple frappe with crushed ice, half milk and water then blend together and add the Chai tea concentrate. You can add whipped topping and cinnamon or drink it plain,

Basic Chai Iced Tea

This is my go to quick cold Chai tea drink. Just add water and ice then add the Cha flavoring. A quick and simple refreshing drink.

I love the TAZO brand Chai concentrate and these are some of my favorite syrups I use.

I’m so glad my daughter started me on my addiction to Chai tea! When I visited her last month she had another carton ready for me!

If you haven’t tried Chai tea now is your time to give it a try, the Chai frappes are delicious. But be careful, you may get addicted to Chai tea also!
