Major Overhaul
Most of you know I love to save things for “I may be able to use this sometime”. Well those days are gone and I’m in a MAJOR overhaul. We bought our home in 1999, it was a new build so we could start decorating with a clean slate. Fast forward to 27 years later and it was time for a few changes.
The first thing on my list to get rid of was the carpet throughout the house both up and downstairs, except the kitchen and eating area. That we updated the plank flooring in 2021.
I found the perfect color of LVP flooring that went great with the gray walls and the gray planks in the hallway. But after looking at the treads and risers for the stairs, I wasn’t happy with the quality, it was very thin and I know stairs would get quite a bit of wear.

Well I found an artist that removes the old stairs and puts in new hardwood treads painted to look like the flooring. I was so excited with the end results. Old carpeting gone, newly painted new hardwood planks. He even painted the railing to match. When I saw the old steps coming off, I came up with a brainstorm. The area under the stairs is between the garage and hall closet on the sides and the pantry along the back. I’m now thinking I could make an opening on one of the area and turn it into more storage! If I open it through the pantry, I could extend my pantry by at least four feet! This is not set in stone yet, but some day I just may have a larger pantry!

This is the room at the top of the stairs that has been Rich’s collectible room, a playroom for the grands and great grands and just a catchall room. Actually for 27 year old carpet, it wasn’t too bad. But I love the new flooring. I decided to paint the stairwell and this room Grayish to match the bathroom. The window wall is Essential gray to match with the guest room. I have fabric ready to whip up some faux silk gray panels on a black rod. I even painted the fan blades gray.

Now this room has been transformed into my sewing and music corner and my computer “office” on the opposite side. As for my office, I found the filing cabinet, chair and desk on Marketplace over the year and all are gray tones! My next project will be going through my photographs and print up some of them for the walls. I want to use some of my butterflies, Rich’s roses and some from Cherokee.
This is the first stage, stay tuned for the second stage tomorrow!
