MAGNIFICENT LANDING HOTEL
If I had to describe this hotel in one word I would have to say MAGNIFICENT LANDING HOTEL!! This hotel recently opened and it has a beautiful view of the Mohawk River in Schenectady New York with top quality features.
Hubby and I recently spent three nights in a gorgeous harbor view room, where we watched the boats, the college rowing team practice and jet skies going up and down the river plus the beautiful sunsets in the evenings.
Our King bed room was very comfortable with a clean, minimalistic design. We had a modern style velvet sofa with a round table next to it, perfect for breakfasts and dinner. There was also a large workstation and great lighting.
One thing that impressed me was the number of outlets situated around the room and each outlet had a USB charging port plus the hotel offers complimentary Wi-Fi. The room had a 55″ TV, a mini-fridge, safe-deposit box, iron and ironing board plus a hairdryer. The large closet had both a rack with hangers and a small two drawer storage unit. There was even a zippered bag on the top shelf with an extra blanket and pillow.
I like how the door is sliding, like a barn door and goes between the closet and bathroom. The Landing Hotel also has special trash receptacles for recycling products in the room. Everything is upscale and high-class!
When I entered the bathroom, seeing the marble in the shower and counter top, all I could say was WOW I’m loving this! The shower had an adjustable shower head with so much pressure, it was wonderful. I loved the amenities in the bath… the soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion were Eucalyptus & Spearmint, such a relaxing combination! The classy glass glasses in the bathroom are quite a plus from the normal plastic cups that are in must hotels. They even had a special monogrammed “Make-Up” towel. Speaking of towels, the bath towels were very large and all were so fluffy and soft. The bathroom lights even come on automatically when entering the bathroom, no fumbling around for the light switch.
Everyone we came in contact with from the front desk, housekeeping, the servers at the breakfast bar and even the security guards were very friendly and always acknowledged us when walking past. They have complimentary Starbucks coffee and tea every morning. I had to most delicious Tazo tea with a blend of Wild Sweet Orange, it was perfect with the fruit tarts we had for breakfast.
The Landing Hotel is located at the Rivers Casino and even if you don’t care to gamble, they have delicious eateries. For our complimentary dinner on Thursday, we had huge burgers, fries, onion rings and two beverages at FLIPT, the not your average burger joint.
Of course, most of you know I have a sweet tooth and all the pastries at VILLA ITALIA made me drool just looking at everything! For Friday’s breakfast, also complimentary, we got a super colossal cinnamon bun and I had to try the double chocolate chip cookie that was the size of a dessert plate! The cookie was an added surprise as I was unknowingly talking with the owner of the bakery and mentioned how delicious it looked. She then had the staff member behind the counter slip one in my bag. Since our breakfast included the pastry and two beverages, Rich had a coffee and I had hot chocolate. Let me tell you, they make the hot chocolate with real milk!! It was so thick and creamy and SO delicious!
We were in town from South Carolina for my 50th High School Reunion and our stay at the magnificent Landing Hotel was absolutely lovely and even though I had three complimentary nights, this will be our home away from home when ever we travel back to the Schenectady area. The room, the surroundings, the view of the Mohawk River from our room, how quiet it was and even how friendly passing guests were and of course the people at the front desk all made our stay wonderful.
There are so many more features at the Landing Hotel that we didn’t get a chance to check out like the 24-hour fitness center, the full-service splash spa and the complementary evening wine reception just to list a few. The entire hotel and casino are smoke-free and it was so wonderful to walk the floor of the Rivers Casino and not be choking from the smoke.
Okay, we did do a bit more than walk the floor, we exercised our arm on a few slot machines. I think I hear the Landing calling us back!

It really makes a difference when you have a good hotel or motel stay. I don’t always need luxury but comfort yes. Especially is you’re busy running around it makes a difference when you can relax and unwind in a well kept room. And good service is hard to find.
That’s so true Kasia, we usually stay in comfortable chain motels but the beginning of our stay we had a terrible experience at the Red Roof Inn. The Landing was over the top of comfort and luxury! Great stay for my 50th high school reunion. Thanks for visiting my blog!
