Lia’s Twelve Day Countdown – Day 11

Do you know what Lia’s twelve day countdown – day 11 means? It means that there is only one more day until Princess Lia Faith with be a year old ! Through out Lia’s entire first year she has share love and smiles to everyone that she passes. Her memories between the weeks before her 11 month birthday are awesome!

This month started with Lia celebrating her first 4th of July! My upcoming project will be to create a quilt for Lia from all her “first shirts”.

From her early months, Lia has always been inquisitive and we could tell she was willing to learn. She started playing with her building blocks at about 6 months and now she can build towers! Mommy even taught her to put all the blocks in the bag when done playing. Another fun project is working on wooden puzzles. Both of these are great hand and eye coordination learning and she has both!

But she also has musical genes! Her aunt Jasmine plays numerous instruments and is in her college band! Maybe Lia will follow her footsteps. She pulled out some pans, grabbed a wooden spoon and started playing her “drums”. It’s fun to watch her as she beats the different pans where she knows the different sounds they make. When Lia’s mommy was about a year old, we gave her a little guitar (which she still has) and she and papa would play together. I need to find a picture of that to compare with Lia and papa playing her ukulele! I love the look of concentration on her face.

We had another fun shopping day this month with mommy, GG papa at the wheel of the stroller and GG mama. What girl doesn’t like to go shoe shopping? Lia is starting her OCD early and straightening up the shoe boxes on the shelf!

It’s party time for two little Divas! When Lia was 7 months old she met Layla for the first time. Lia and Layla’s mommies have been friends since they were about 7 years old. These two little ones are following tradition. Layla’s 1st birthday was in July and what a fun day they had playing and swimming. Lia is looking forward to visiting with Layla again at her 1st birthday party in a few days.

We updated my mom’s memory garden after 19 years and Lia was a big part of helping to pick out the flowers and supervise the planting. Lia and GG mama go to the garden every time she is visiting to say hi to her great, great grandma.

Lia’s biggest adventure this month was when she went on her first plane trip! Her and mommy boarded a plane in South Carolina for Indiana to visit her uncle Zac! Mommy hadn’t seen her brother since last October. Lia was greeter at the airport before heading to the plane. As mommy and Lia walked through the gates, Lia turned around as if to say, “I’ll see you soon GG papa and mama!”

Lia was a perfect passenger on both planes plus their layover. On the last plane she decided to get some shut-eye so she would be all ready to meet uncle Zac.

It didn’t take long for Zac to find his way into Lia’s heart! She loved the ink Walrus ice cream shop!

The week seemed to drag by for GG papa and mama but went to fast for Lia, mommy and Zac. They said good-bye’s at the Indiana airport, but uncle Zac will be down in South Carolina for Lia’s 1st birthday party!

Once back home, Lia was back checking out her toys in her basket at GG papa and mama’s house. She was looking for something and of course it was a the very bottom so everything has to come out! We found mommy’s little beach chair from when she was tiny and Lia took that over. I’m so called I saved some of Alexandra’s things so Lia can now share in the memories that her mommy had.

Lia had such a busy month and it ends with her cuddling with GG papa in their chair taking a well deserve nap. The past 11 months have seemed to go by so fast but it’s been exciting watching this little one explore and grow. Here is Lia’s Twelve Day Countdown – Day 10 if you missed it. http://themarthareview.com/lias-twelve-day-countdown-day-10/

Just think that your granddaughter will have an entire album of memories available to her when she is old enough thanks to your blog journaling. And, a quilt. You are an Awesome Grandma!

Awww, thanks Alana, I’m hoping to turn the countdown posts into a book for when Lia is 18 years old. She won’t remember the events but it will be fun for her to see how loved she was by everyone.
