Lia’s Back for the October 2026 UBC

Hi everyone Lia’s back for the October 2026 Ultimate Blog Challenge! If you are new to the UBC, I want to introduce myself to you. I’m Lia and Martha (I call her Ma) is my great grandma. I had such a busy summer and it went by so fast. I spent the month of July visiting Ma, Snowball, daddy and my grandparents in South Carolina, got back home to Indiana and started school a few days later. Then near the end of August it was my birthday and now I’m 8 years old.

I’m in 3rd grade and some of my friends from last year are in my class again! We have a new student and she is from Japan and doesn’t speak English so I’m trying to learn Japanese.

For my birthday I went to K1 Speed to race go carts and I won!
I try to write a blog every Friday with interesting things that are happening and next week I’ll have an exciting blog to share!

This is my mommy and her brother, Uncle Zac with his dog Max. After school I love helping Zac in his auto detail shop.
Well that’s it for me today, I’ll be back next week for another Friday Story Time by Lia!

Nice to meet you Lia! What an exciting life you have. Thanks for sharing it with us.
And happy belated birthday 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Thanks Fran, now that I’m getting older things are getting busier in my life but I always ready for new things.
PS: Who drew that first picture?
Hi Fran, I have a Google Pixel phone and it has different options in photo gallery. One is being able to change a photo into a drawing! I’ll have to share a few other options it has. Of course, Lia was the one who found these cool options!
I love that drawing of Lia and Snowball, followe by the photograph. I love the expression of joy that Lia shares through her writing and in her pictures.
You’ve become a wonderful blogger. Have fun learning Japanese! I’m looking forward to the next episode of your adventures!
Lia says thank you Alice! I love her enthusiasm on everything she does. The drawing is an app on my Google photo that chances a photo into an pencil drawing!
Welcome back, Lia! I love that you’re learning Japanese so you can communicate with your new classmate. What a kind thing to do. Sounds like you had a very busy summer!
I had a busy and fun summer Lisa. Learning Japanese is interesting.
Lia, I love that you’re learning Japanese:-) Mine is pretty limited:”domo arigato” – it’s from a song, but don’t tell anyone.
I’m just starting Tamara but it’s interesting to learn a new language.
Hi Lia, Happy Birthday! I am excited to see your adventures unfold this month! That is cool that you are learning Japanese. I have also been learning Japanese on Duolingo since last year.
Thanks for visiting Jennifer! I’m learning it on my own and through what my friend says. Then I write it down in Japanese and English. I’ll have to check out the Doulingo app, thanks!
Hello Martha and Lia! Welcome back to the UBC. Thank you both for sharing your summer experiences and the lovely family photos—and that of Snowball, of course. You all take care. Blog on!
Thanks Danwil, I had a busy summer now I’m having an exciting fall!
Lia, I remember meeting you as a baby, so I can hardly believe you’re already 8 years old. I’m glad you’ve got friends with you in 3rd grade. School is more fun with friends. Sounds like you had a great summer, too, and a fun birthday. See you next week!
Now I’m almost as tall as mommy and I can even wear some of her shirts Jeanine! I like school and wait until you see where my next blog will take me!
Nice to see you again, Lia. You’ve grown. I know just a few Japanese words after taking a couple of classes. Nothing to brag about though.
Well I’m not sure how much I will learn Lily but I want to be able to talk with my new Japanese friend.
