Good Bye Ruthie!

It’s Friday Story Time by Lia again! Today my story is Good Bye Ruthie! You may remember me writing about my neighbor who I loved to visit and take cookies over. Since the corona virus has been here I haven’t been able to visit Ruthie in months other than wave to her from across the street. I missed being able to visit her so much. GGPapa has always said we don’t say goodbye, it’s see you later.

In early April mama and I painted some signs and I stood in the driveway. When Ruthie came back from the mailbox, I was standing there with my signs waving to her! http://themarthareview.com/missing-our-neighbor/

GGmama and I made Ruthie an Easter basket but I had to wait at the end of our driveway while mama ran the basket over to Ruthie. She stood at the end of her driving waving back! http://themarthareview.com/missing-our-neighbor-part-2/

Ruthie has been a part of my life since I was born almost 2 years ago! We would get her mail, bring her cookies and dinners or just sit with her and visit. I liked taking Christmas and birthday gifts to her and see how excited Ruthie would get.

All these months I’ve missed going to visit Ruthie and then last week I got the news. RUTHIE IS MOVING!!! She is going to a place called Assisted Living, I’m going to miss her SO MUCH and mama is too. But mama told me when she is able to receive visitors in her new home we will go see her! That will make mama and me happy to see Ruthie and I’m sure she will be happy to see us. Of course we’ll bring her lots of cookies! Right now visitors aren’t allowed because the virus is still around. I hurried and baked some cookies because I had to take Ruthie some over one more time before she left.

Last Sunday was Ruthie’s last day as my neighbor across the street. But I had to visit her before she left. Mama and I put together a little basket of goodies and snacks for munching late at night. I painted her a picture, turned it into a card and added stickers around it.

I put my mask on and went to visit Ruthie! No more just waving to her from across the street, this time it was so important to go see her and tell her good-bye but we would see her soon at her new home. Ruthie was outside when we went over and she greeted me with a big smile! I handed her the basket and she told me how much she will miss visiting with us.

A few days before Ruthie moved she asked mama if we wanted her bird feeders. Both Ruthie and I love to watch the birds. Papa put one feeder on a pink pole in my new garden and another in the yard. As soon as papa hung the feeder up the birds started coming around it! You can’t see the bird on the back side of the feeder but there is another one on top of the pole waiting! Everytime I see birds eating out of Ruthie’s feeder I will think of her.

Ruthie is so special to me and I’ll miss her but looking forward to going up to visit as soon as we can. So it’s really not Good Bye Ruthie!, it’s I’ll see you soon! Mama is going to print out and frame this picture and we’ll take to Ruthie when we visit. I’m sure she will love that! I hope you enjoyed my Friday Story Time by Lia about my friend Ruthie. Be sure to smile and be friendly with everyone, they may just smile and wave back to you!
