Golden Anniversary Soon

Our GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY In One Week

The clock is ticking, the days are passing, only one week left for our special day. Yes, one week, seven days until my sweetie and I will be getting married AGAIN!!   Yes, you read that right, AGAIN!  Our beautiful wedding was on July 29, 1967 so we are celebrating our Golden Anniversary soon on July 29, 2017.  But this is our 7th, yes you read that right also, our 7th wedding, the BIG ONE, our 50th ANNIVERSARY!

On our 25th anniversary, we renewed our vows and at that wedding, I wore the wedding gown I made for our oldest daughter.  This is Rich’s favorite aunt next to me (Aunt Rose is the one responsible for Rich and I meeting each other on a blind date back on Christmas Day 1965) and his mom. We also renewed our vows every 5 years after our 25th and that brings us up to our 7th wedding on our 50th Wedding Anniversary!

The priest called me today to finalize everything and they are even going to play “Ava Maria”,  our favorite song that was song at our wedding 50 years ago.  My dress is beautiful but I haven’t shown it to anyone yet, so that will have to wait until next week! Rich will be all spiffed up in his new duds and a beautiful gold tie. I have the “something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue” packed and ready for the big day.

My “something borrowed” is actually mine now, it’s a delicate hankie edged in gold that belonged to my mother and my “something blue” are the blue and gold rosary beads that were given to me by my mother-in-law.  The “something new” is my dress and the “something old” is me!  LOL (See I like to always add humor to my blogs!)

But I also have one other special thing I will be carrying with me, it’s the latest penny I found on the ground, sent down from my mom in heaven.

St. Anthony’s Italian Catholic Church in Schenectady New York is a beautiful church founded in 1902.  In 2014, a fire destroyed the historic church but was rebuilt to preserve the beauty and heritage in 2016.  On March 19, 2016, Palm Sunday weekend, the 1st Mass was celebrated in the new sanctuary. We were married in the original church and now we will be renewing our vows in the beautiful preserved church.

I was reading the history of St. Anthony’s and how the Italian immigrants worked hard to build it where it is today.  Rt. Rev. Msgr. Michael Bianco who officiated our wedding, emigrated to the United States in 1902 with his parents and became pastor of St. Anthony’s in 1916.  If he was still alive today, he would be very proud of his church.

This next week will be a whirl wind just like it was back 50 years ago and we’ll be taking our 14 hour drive from South Carolina to Schenectady, New York for our Golden Anniversary soon!  Hoping I can keep up with the UBC Challenge, with only 9 days left!

I know you will be able to keep up. But yikes only 9 days left where did the time go? As for the Wedding I know I said it before but congrats and I can’t wait to see pictures. The Rosary is so pretty and a penny from Heaven is perfect. As for the Church it sounds beautiful. I wish Charlie and I were fly’s on the wall as we would like to be there that day. And the more I hear about you and my friend renewing your vows the more I would like to. But David would just laugh at me so that is out.

I’m not sure where the time went Glenda but I’ll keep up! My mother-in-law gave my her rosary a few years ago and now I realize the blue and gold combination is perfect for our 50th! So I’ll have something with me from both mother in law and my mom! I’m also carrying my dad’s metal cased bible that my mom sent him back in 1944 when he was in WW2. After the priest called yesterday, it got me even more excited. I’ll be sure to post a blog describing everything! Thanks for visiting and I wish you and Charlie could be flies on the wall also!

Yay!! I’m excited for you 🙂 When do you leave? What is the story behind your mom sending pennies from heaven?

    • Martha says:

We leave Monday night, will move mother in law into her new independent living apartment on Wednesday and Thursday. (She will be 100 in September and this will be such a relief for Rich and I knowing she will be in a secured place with help if needed. She is so independent and was a job to have her realize this is best for her) As for the pennies, that might just be a great blog topic! I find pennies around with no explanation as to how they showed up and also find them on the ground. When I see one, I’ve always looked up and know mom is watching over us, tossing pennies. Thanks for visiting Morgan.

Happy anniversary. That’s so romantic. Yes, the pennies would be a great blog post. I find pennies everywhere, as well, and have quite a collection in a jar. I think that my dad tosses pennies at me. Oh, and I’m really happy that your mother in law has a nice new living situation. Thank you for telling me about your mother in law in my blog yesterday! You’re always welcome to visit!

How sweet for your dad to toss you pennies Alice. Some people find it hard to believe, but not me. I’m so excited to be carrying mom’s penny at our anniversary. we are leaving tomorrow to get mother in law all set up in her new place. So excited about that too! Hubby and I have been trying to get her to move for 20 years but since she is of sound mind, and a very strong opinionated one at that, we had to wait until she decided on her own. Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful week.
