French Toast Anyone?
I was talking to my sister the other morning and she mentioned going somewhere with her friend for French Toast. That got me thinking, I want some too! My grandmother would make the best French Toast before school, years and years ago and it brought back memories just thinking about it. French Toast anyone?
So here is my quick and easy recipe I came up with.
My One of a Kind French Toast Recipe

Add two eggs in a dish and whisk until blended, then add about 1/8 cup of Italian Sweet Cream coffee creamer. (I used to add milk but now I love the different flavors of coffee creamer when cooking) After that’s mixed together with the eggs, sprinkle the mixture with cinnamon and sugar and mix that together.
I rarely have bread in the house but I do keep a loaf in the freezer for times like this. I defrosted two slices of Italian bread in the microwave then melted butter in a frying pan while soaking the bread in the egg mixture.
Put the coated bread in the pan with the melted butter and when one side is lightly browned, flip over to the other side.

Coat the cooked French Toast with butter and syrup for a delicious breakfast or brunch. Simple as that, an easy, peasy, delicious recipe.

Of course you need a cup of hot cocoa to go with your French Toast! Again I mix milk and the Italian Sweet Cream coffee creamer together and after the milk is heated, add a packet of cocoa mix and whisk together. Finish it off with whipped cream sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. What do you think, are you hungry for French Toast anyone?

This post made me smile, Martha.
It feels warm and familiar and reminded me that food carries memory, comfort, and a little joy all at once. You took me back to some cozy youthful moments.
I’m happy when I read that my posts bring back memories for others Florence. I learned so much from my grandmother and so many memories come to me when I’m cooking or baking.
Martha, it’s Thursday morning as I am reading this. So… YES, PLEASE, count me in! I can actually smell the cinnamon all the way to my place.
Okay Tamara, I got you down for extra cinnamon on your batch! LOL
Yummmmm!
I think I had as much from making the donuts as the kiddos did Allison!
I make mine basically the same way but I use half/half or evaporated milk and also add ground nutmeg, ground clove and ground ginger along with the cinnamon, but no sugar. The most important part is making sure the bread is thoroughly soaked so it falls apart as you eat it!!
Oh yes, sometimes I add nutmeg and clove too Nancy, anything to give it flavor!
Your French toast looks so yummy! You’re making me hungry, Martha. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
