Delicious Swedish Nuts

Delicious Swedish Nuts

My mom would also make delicious Swedish Nuts every Christmas and it’s something that I now make to follow her tradition.

I just use pecans but you can mix in walnuts and almonds for more variety.  They are easy to make, have only four ingredients and great to add to cookie boxes for gifts.

Swedish Nuts

3 cups pecans

1/2 cup butter

2 egg whites

1 cup sugar

Put butter in a  9″ x 13″ pan and melt in the oven.   Beat egg whites and sugar until stiff peaks.   Mix pecans to the meringue.

Pour into pan with the melted butter and spread around until flat.  Bake at 350 degrees, stir a few times will baking.  Remove from oven when golden brown.

Let cool if you can wait that long to sample them!

Store in a tight container or a ziplock bag to keep fresh.

Hope you enjoy making and eating this great recipe for delicious Swedish Nuts.

The version I have from mom says to turn them after twenty minutes and then again after another twenty minutes. Put them back in for the last 20 minutes. The idea was for them to absorb all the melted butter until they’re dry enough to handle without getting butter on your fingers.

Well that sounds good. I just keep watch and stir when I feel like it. LOL As soon as I see the butter absorbed and golden brown, I take them out. Thanks for the addition Nancy! They are delicious!!
