Color of the Day is Gold

Today is the 29th day of the Color of the Day Challenge, one more day to go! I like today’s color, the Color of the Day is Gold. Today is also one month away from our 53rd Wedding Anniversary.

The first gold that immediately came to mind was my hubby’s and my Golden Wedding Anniversary. We celebrated our 50th anniversary on July 29, 2017, renewing our vows in the same church we were married in. We drove the 1000 miles just for this special occasion. This is the blog I wrote about our special day. http://themarthareview.com/beautiful-50th-wedding-anniversary-ceremony/ These are the items I carried on our 50th anniversary. A gold trimmed hankie that was my mom’s, a tarnished gold covered bible that was my dad’s. He carried this with him in World War 2. I also carried a beautiful teal and gold rosary I received when we visited Italy years ago. Our announcements and guest book were written in gold also.

This beautiful 50th Anniversary plate was a gift to my parents on their Golden Anniversary. My sister surprised me with the plate and what a memory from my mom and dad. The golden bell was a gift from my granddaughter Alexandra. Two beautiful gold gifts to cherish.

Our granddaughter is the sweetest. Three years ago to the day, Alexandra gave pop this black pen with gold lettering. It says “Most Important Man in My Life”. Yes that’s pop who has been like a father and grandfather all rolled in one! He has carried it in his shirt pocket every day since he received it.

When we started creating Lia’s Garden, we found some treasures buried in the weeds. I found this old rusty shovel and thought it would be something I could use in the garden. I posted on Facebook asking if anyone had ideas what I could do with it. The best one was to write Lia’s name on it! I decided to spray paint it gold and we are in the process of decorating it with Lia’s name and a few other surprises. When it’s finished, Lia will post a Friday Story Time to unveil her decorated shovel!

For now, we have a beautiful gold shovel in Lia’s Garden. It looks exceptional great against the newly stained fence.

Check out my latest “find!” Our neighbor was throwing away a large faded green flower pot. I saved it from the trash, spray painted it gold and transplanted our bougainvillea in it. It’s perfect in the corner of Lia’s Garden! Perfect picture of Color of the Day is Gold!

I thought I was finished with my Color of the Day is Gold blog when I looked at Lia and she had on shirt with Gold glitter hearts! I could have used this on Glitter day but it works perfect for Gold day!
