Christmas Gifts

I’m so excited, this is my first blog for the January Ultimate Blog Challenge! I’ve been so busy the past few months with Kindergarten, working on my 3rd year of Lia’s Sunshine Bakery Alzheimer’s Fundraiser and then getting ready for Christmas. For my Friday Story Time by Lia I’m sharing some jewelry I made for Christmas gifts for my family.

I have a huge bin and lots of boxes with of all kinds of beads and string and I love to make necklaces, bracelets and beaded chains for hanging in the window for the beads catch the sun.

I started by picking out the special colors for everyone then I checked through my alphabet beads to put on each bead string. The holes on the beads are so tiny but I use a plastic string that I don’t need to use a needle to string them.

I made a necklace for mommy and a bracelet for gramma. For daddy, pop and Taco I made bead chains with a loop at the top so they can hang them in the car or on a window to catch the sun.

A had a problem making something for ma. My beads are kept in the garage and there was no way I could sneak out and get them to make ma a necklace plus she is always around me when I’m doing craft projects. So I came up with an idea for ma’s gift! I found a piece of foam in a box and I cut it in a heart shape, colored it with a marker and made an ornament for the Christmas tree!

Everyone loved the Christmas gifts I made them and it was fun coming up with each of the designs!

Ma and pop hung theirs on the tree as soon as they opened them and the beads sparkled when the tree lights were on. I like making handmade gifts, ma told me they are gifts from my heart. Ma cried as she hugged me when she opened the heart gift I made, but they were happy tears.

Awww, I loved reading about your homemade gifts, Lia, and I can totally relate to Ma crying happy tears!
    You did a wonderful job!
Let me tell you, when my boy was about your age, actually a bit younger, I read what a kid has to be able to do in order to be considered ready for Kindergarten. One said “put beads on a string”, and I was like “I wonder if he can do this, He has never shown a lot of interest in arts and crafts. See, he was a hockey player, even back then. So I gave him a piece of string and a couple of beads, and he went to work. It took a long time, but he did it!

Lia says, thank you Tamara and she said YAY for your son to get the beads on the string. Lia’s big accomplishment last month was she learned to tie her shoes, she was so excited!
