Celebrate the Memories
Today’s blog is a continuation of yesterday. Rich and I would always go to Cherokee to celebrate our anniversary.

I have continued that tradition for the passed three years to celebrate the memories we have made over the years and to launch a little boat made from flowers, shells, evergreen and other natural things. I attach the items to a piece of bark held together with peanut butter and drop it in the same place every year.

This trip I invited my neighbor Judy to go with me and that made the 7 hour trip a bit easier having someone with me. We even stayed overnight at Harrah’s Casino when I took advantage of a comp night.

One stop was to St. John’s Catholic Church in Bryson City for noon Mass and I lit a candle for Rich.

I pulled off to watch the river gently rolling over the rocks and the first thing I saw with a huge rock in the shape of a heart.

We continued down the Great Smoky Mountains National Parkway where Rich and I would always stop to visit the elk grazing in the field. There were so many this trip!

Of course the day had to end with a trip to Gordon Ramsey’s for pizza and and a few spins on the slots at the casino. I love it when I come home with more than I took. LOL

I felt Rich’s presence with me especially when the little blue butterflies surrounded me. We’re heading down the mountain this afternoon with a feeling that Rich is at peace and watching over me.
