Can You See Me Now

Can You See Me Now

What a learning experience I have had since Friday when my blog went down. I would get messages from my blogger friends saying it was down, then it was back up, then down again. Can you see me now? It started with an over usage of CPU’s, I fixed that by doing a few things suggested by Host Gator and my blog was back up and running only to receive another email stating another problem.

It was time to call in extra reinforcements, my computer guru grandson.   He helped me tweak a few things, delete plugins I didn’t need and then we went on Skype and he showed me how to track things on my C Panel.  I thought everything was fine, I posted a blog and things seemed fine, until late Sunday night it happened again, this email said something totally different.  So back to square one, I followed the suggestions and went back through the WP Super Cache to make sure all the settings were correct and then I added the WP Optimizer plug in.  The other suggestion was to add Akismet but I already had that.  I emailed them back with the chances I did so Host Gator could check if everything was okay but I didn’t hear back. So Monday afternoon I called them, the first person said I had to wait until they emailed me back.  That didn’t sit well with me, I had been waiting over 16 hours! Now I usually have patience but this had been going on since Friday.  I was transferred to a senior tech who checked my site and she could see where I had done everything that was suggested.  Then I was transferred to someone else to to actually open the site and check it but when I got to that person, he said I would have to wait until my email reply was actually looked at.  He did say that my stats have jumped so much since moving over to Host Gator that I might want to consider a dedicated server.  That sounded well and good until I checked the prices.  The previous day when my grandson was showing my how to track things on my site, he showed me where to track my traffic.  It seems like the tracking I’ve been viewing on my blog page is nothing what the actual traffic is.

I moved my hosting to Host Gator in May and CJ showed me where to check my stats. Just for July, I’ve had over 2,000 unique visitors and almost 7,000 blog visits. He gave me a cyber pat on the back which made me feel good, but hoping the site stays up and running without any problem.  I have everything set to clear my cache, optimize my blog and keep spam away.  I was about to give up last night on even attempting to blog on this site but I did go to my backup WP blog so I got my Ultimate Blog Challenge posted for day 25.  This morning I received an email stating all the corrections I made were completed satisfactorily and I’m up and running.  This will be my first blog since everything has been done as per the emails and I hope you can see me now.

I started on my own and did a few things but when it went down again, I knew I needed reinforcements from someone who knew something. So glad my grandson is such a computer guru. I know enough to sometimes get by but not enough to know what I’m doing. LOL

Thanks VJ! I woke up this morning and I’m still good to go! I had no idea my traffic was where it is until my grandson gave me another lesson on blogging and what everything means. Just when I think I know things, he throws more at me! LOL Gotta love him for all his expertise. Thanks for visiting.
