Butterflies and Sun Catchers

I received two beautiful butterfly sun catchers for Christmas and butterflies have a special spiritual meaning to me.

Ever since Rich passed away I have seen butterflies in so many different places. The first one was a blue swallowtail in Cherokee when I went there with my daughter and son-in-law in July 2024 for our 57th anniversary and Rich’s would be 78th birthday. Every time after this when in Cherokee, the blue butterflies have been around me including when I went up in July 2025 and both the blue and yellow ones were there with me at the river.

The only time I didn’t see a butterfly was this past December when it was too cold for them. But I did see a butterfly/angel in the sky.

Another encounter was in our backyard while cleaning out the gardens in October 2024. This is when a yellow swallowtail landed on me and stayed with me for almost an hour. They too have been around numerous times when I’m outside.

An orange monarch did the same thing, he was fluttering around the yard, came up and landed on my hand.

I was reading particularly of the meaning of seeing a blue butterfly. It says they may signify the presence of angels or a loved one who has passed away as a symbol of their spirit remaining connected to us. This I truly believe since they are around at times and places where I need to be connected.

For the yellow butterfly, one of the meanings is a reminder to stay optimistic through life’s challenges. It also means getting a fresh start on a new phase.

The one meaning that is fitting for me of the orange butterfly is that it represents a spiritual journey or the beginning of something new. My new chapter in live is not what I expected but I know God is guiding me along my new journey.

Butterfly Sun Catchers

For Christmas, my daughter Chris and her hubby gave me this beautiful sun catcher with a blue butterfly. It’s so beautiful when the sun makes the stained glass look all sparkly.

Then my granddaughter Allison surprised me this this blue butterfly sun catcher with a pink rose.

I didn’t notice right away but as I was looking at the sun shine through the colors I realized the rose is very similar to my rose tattoo! Such a special meaning to the rose also.

Each time I see a butterfly I know it’s a sign from Rich’s spirit and he is still guiding me along my life’s new journey.

I’m waiting for the day for them to be back visiting Cindy. The butterfly bush in the backyard stays green all winter so the first sight of spring I’m sure the flowers will bloom on it for when the butterflies visit.

Butterflies are so beautiful, watching them fly about brings me so much peace. What a lovely reminder for you of Rich and the love and years you shared. The thoughtful gifts from your family are also so lovely.
