All Things are Possible

The other day we went to the pool and I was trying to help Lia learn to swim. She kept saying, “I can’t do it” but I told her all things are possible and she can do anything if she tries. She didn’t even like to get her face wet before today. I tried to give her some pointers to no avail. I left her by the steps I started swimming laps. As I was swimming towards her I noticed she was doing the breast stroke and running in the water. I told her to just pick up her legs and she’ll be swimming. Again she stopped and said “I can’t do it.” So again I just let her hang around the shallow end.

As I was talking to a few friends that came down, Lia all of a sudden went under water and started swimming to were I was! Since she was swimming underwater, she had to stop to come up for air but went right back down and swam the entire width of the pool. Everyone was cheering her on and she had the biggest smile when we all yelled, “Lia you are swimming!”

Within a hour she was swimming the length of the pool to get to her little friend. I did remind her she can’t touch bottom in the deep end so swim along the edge in case she needed a breather.

I so proud that she didn’t give up, I knew she would figure it out but I didn’t realize it would happen so quickly.

Since today is Spiritual Sunday, Lia’s accomplishment in learning to swim reminded me of Matthew 19:26, With God all things are possible. It reminds us to have faith and trust in God. That’s just what I did while watching her learn to swim on her own.

From “I can’t do it” to doing a length without hesitation, you absolutely CAN do it, Lia! It made me smile to observe how you fixed your hair half-way!

Don’t all diva’s have to have perfect hair Tamara? LOL I usually put it in a ponytail but her mask strap wouldn’t stay on. I’m so proud of how she did this all by herself and underwater swimming when she wouldn’t go under att all!

What a great thing to get to see, Martha. The best part is that you stopped helping and went to swim your laps. You gave her space to work it out on her own, and that is when she went under and did it. No amount of tips was going to get her there. She had to decide she could. And then she went from “I can’t do it” to swimming the whole pool in an hour. Way to go, Lia. And way to go, Mom, for being patient enough to back off. Matthew 19:26 fits this perfectly.

Thanks Paul, I knew she could do it but Lia’s the type of kid that has to learn things for herself. After she made her first lap and everyone was cheering her, she had to biggest smile and I said, “I knew you could do it Lia!” Gotta have Faith (that’s also her middle mane) and yes Matthew 19:26 was perfect.

Martha, you did a great job coaching Lia on how to swim! I enjoyed looking at the photos and watching the videos. And yes, you’re absolutely correct… that with “God” (Yahweh) everything is possible. Enjoy the weekend and keep up the faith. 🙂

Thanks Danwil, I knew she could do it, just needed a bit of coaching and then leaving her to do it by herself. I was so proud to see her swimming underwater to the other side of the pool. This will be her last week here and I already know it will be awesome! You also have a wonderful week.

Thanks Alice, I was so excited when I saw her swimming across the pool and underwater at that! I knew she could do it, just have to have faith!
