A to Z Food Challenge – X

Today the A to Z Food Challenge almost got my stumped! It after doing some research I found a few “X” foods and the first one sounds delicious.

Xi gua lao is a dish from Beijing and also knows as watermelon jelly. The ingredients used are watermelon, cherries, agar, sugar and vanilla powder. Water is mixed with agar, vanilla powder and sugar and boiled into syrup. The cherries are cut into small slices and the watermelon is crushed to get watermelon juice, and mixed with the syrup and then cooled. I’ve never heard of this or tried it but it sounds interesting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xi_gua_lao

Do you know what Xigua is? It’s a melon found in Africa which is also known as watermelon! http://thehungrykitchen.blogspot.com/2011/05/xigua-better-known-as-watermelon.html

Okay for the A to Z Food Challenge – X, I was stumped! Many of the foods that start with “X” are Asian but some sound very interesting. I may have to give them a try. Do you know of a delicious food that starts with “X”? I’m willing to give it a try!
