A to Z Food Challenge – O

O boy, we are up to the A to Z Food Challenge – O! Wait until you see the different “O” foods I found.

Let’s start the day with a delicious bowl of oatmeal. I like to sprinkle mine with cinnamon or add drops of jam on it. Don’t forget to make some oatmeal cookies!

Of course if you have a sweet tooth, Oreos will always do the trick. When I have Oreos I need a glass of very cold milk for dunking.

I like to add onions to many meals, omelettes for breakfast, steak for dinner and even in salads. I would chop the onions in small pieces, then dice them in smaller pieces. If I didn’t suck on a piece of bread, I always cried while chopping up onions!

But since I got my little Oster chopper Lia is having a great time chopping different things. We tried onions and it makes perfect little pieces and no crying while chopping these.

On the healthy side, I love sauteed onions, sometimes I add peppers to them. The onions are delicious served over a steak.

Onion rings are my favorite also. But the store bought ones have more breading than onion! One day I decided to try my hand at making onion rings. I sliced them very thin, dipped then in a flour and milk solution and fried them. The outside was light and crispy and I could taste the onion instead of just breading. Here is a blog with my recipe: http://themarthareview.com/delicious-deep-fried-onion-rings/

Add sliced onions, carrots, cut up pieces of potatoes with onion soup mix to cut up pieces of beef and after it’s cooked you have a easy and delicious dinner.

These are two of my favorites. Sliced onions and cucumbers with sugar and vinegar or onions, tomatoes and cucumbers with oil and vinegar make two great simple salads.

Did you now there is an olive tree in Florence, Italy that has only one olive on in each year? I don’t remember how old the tree is but when we visited Italy we saw the tree and heard the story of the olive tree with one olive. I love green olives, hubby loves the black ones.

So on my A to Z Food Challenge – O this is what’s on the menu. Oh and I can’t forget the delicious omelettes that Lia and I make for breakfast, they even have onions in them. What is your favorite “O” food?

  1. No contest – it’s onions for me! But only n or on something; not by themselves. I do like apple cinnamon oatmeal, though, and am trying to eat it more often since it’s good for you. 🙂 I like omelettes, too – especially if they have onions in them!

I don’t like raw onions but love sauteed onions on a burger. I like them cooked with a roast and omelette also Jeanine. Oatmeal is a great way to start the day, especially with cinnamon, the apple sounds delicious too!

I would never eat a burger without a slice of raw red onion and onions go in all my salads. They help make so many foods taste a little better. Omelets on a chicken farm are just a natural part of our life so we do enjoy an omelet often. I love olives and add them to my salads as well. And don’t forget a nice glass of fresh O.J.

I love Oreos! One of my favorite cookies.
