A to Z Food Challenge – N

I am just over half way through the A to Z Food Challenge – N and that’s just Nuts that it went by so fast! Speaking of Nuts, that’s what I’m talking about today!

I love all kinds of nuts and my favorites are cashews, hazelnuts, almonds, pecans either alone or mixed together!

I make the best trail mix with cashews, almonds, peanuts, dried fruit, and shredded coconut. I use unsalted nuts and unsweetened coconut but the dried fruit has a sweetness of it’s own. Here is my trail mix recipe: http://themarthareview.com/delicious-trail-mix-recipe/

Pecans are great too, Lia and I use them when baking cookies or bread. When I got my free mini chopper, Lia had a great time chopping the pecans for her zucchini bread. http://themarthareview.com/lias-zucchini-bread/

But nuts are also great in my morning fruit dish. I blend together yogurt, a variety of berries and add sliced almonds and granola. They are also a perfect ice cream topping or just eating a handful from the container as I’m doing when writing this blog!

I can’t forget about my swedish nuts! My mom would make these every Christmas and they are oh so good! Just add pecans in with meringue and you have a delicious snack! http://themarthareview.com/delicious-swedish-nuts/

So if you’re looking for a delicious A to Z Food Challenge – N food, try some nuts, they are not only good, but they are good for you!

I love nuts but I have false teeth so I can not enjoy them like I once did

Great recipes. In fact, candied walnuts at grandmas house at Christmas were always a great hit for me. They did need to hide them or I would have eaten the whole bowl. I like making my own mixture, much the same as yours and we add diced walnuts and pecans to my wife’s Apple bread when she makes it. I don’t know why we call it apple bread it is more like an apple cake. And we add pecans to our soft serve when we visit DQ. So now I think I will make a little mixture of walnuts, pecans, and raisins for a snack

Oh my, your wife’s bread or cake which ever it is, sounds delicious Chef William! Something about pecans, they seem to go with everything. Go grab your mixture and have a healthy snack!

Oh my, yes trail mix is my downfall Amrita! I can have an entire bowl next to the computer and I don’t even realize how much I’m eating! I have changed my thinking and only but a cup out now!
