A Beautiful Mother

 A Beautiful Mother

Today is your birthday
But you are not here.
I hold on to memories
That make you seem near.

I go to the garden,
You loved flowers so much.
The beauty is there,
Like your gentle touch.

I wish I could see you,
If for only a day.
I’d give you a hug,
I love you I’d say.

But for now there are memories,
That in my heart stay.
Forever and always,
They will never fade away.

I love and miss you,
With each passing day.
But I go to the garden.
I see your love that way.

The flowers you love
Are starting to bloom.
It’s a sign you are near
To spread joy not gloom.

I know you are with me
So I wipe away the tears.
Forever you’ll be near
To take away my fears.

As I look at the beauty,
In the flowers I see,
A beautiful mother,
Watching over me.

God led my mom to heaven on January 15, 2000, she was only 79 years old. Not a day goes by when I don’t think of her or see signs that she is still with us.  “All the memories of the past, forever in my heart will last”.  Happy Heavenly Birthday Mom!

This is another poem I wrote for mom. I love you mom and all the memories I hold in my heart. http://themarthareview.com/happy-heavenly-birthday-mom/

I don’t think anyone is ever ready to lose their mom, no matter your age, or your mom’s age, it always feels like you just aren’t ready to say goodbye yet. Sorry for your loss, this was a beautiful tribute.

How beautiful this poem is for a beautiful soul. I am sure she is smiling over you.

    • Martha says:

Thanks Jessica, as much as I miss my mom, I don’t miss the suffering she went through with her Alzheimer’s and suffering a stroke. But she was always smiling right to the end. I know she is watching over and smiling.

I too know the beauty of loved ones that can only shine through nature. Don’t let go and enjoy the view

I will never let go Elynn, I truly believe when I see the beautiful flowers, the cardinals and butterflies, they are all signs from loved ones. Plus mom is always sending down pennies from heaven! I love and miss my mom so much but I also know she is now pain free. Thanks for stopping by to visit.

  9. What a lovely poem, dear Martha. As I read this tears ran down my cheeks. I fully understand, your love and your lose. Your poem made memories of my own mother and the loss of her fill my heart.
