What’s For Dinner

Are you ready to see what’s for dinner? I came up with another great deal on steak and wait until you see how I prepared it!

I did go a little over budget on this package of T-Bone steak but it was still a super bargain at $7.83 for two steaks. I like to try to keep our meals under $5.00 and sometimes I can make dinner for two for a few dollars! So every now and then I can splurge. LOL

I sautéed some onions and added the two steaks to the pan and let them cook. I made broccoli for both hubby and me and a baked potato for Rich. Of course I added cheddar cheese to my broccoli.

Now here comes the delicious part of my dinner! I opened a can of diced tomatoes the other day and had some left over. While the steaks were cooking I came up with the bright idea to cover my steak with the tomatoes and the fried onions and cook them together. It reminded me of the swiss steak my grandmother use to prepare. SO DELICIOUS!!

Since I’m hooked on my new Rose Balsamic Vinegar I also had a side salad of tomatoes and cucumbers with the vinegar and Avocado oil. As I was getting ready to eat it, I remembered I forgot to add the shredded cheese!

What’s for dinner you ask? What do you think of my quick, easy and not to pricey dinner for today?

Now if your looking for a mouthwatering piece of pound cake for dessert, here is a great recipe I tried and is it delicious! http://themarthareview.com/i-made-it-myself-whipping-cream-pound-cake/

Both Steaks sound great and they were a good price. if I had one I would make Smothered Steak with Sautéed Onions and Brown Gravy and Mashed Potatoes. Now, I am hungry is Lia cooking today?

I love steak with onions and gravy Glenda! I happened to have the left over tomatoes I’m the fridge so decided to try them on the steaks. Delicious! Lia didn’t cook, she was visiting her gramma.

  4. Martha, all this sounds great! I have a can of tomatoes I’m doing something-chicken with for dinner shortly! I may even still have some fresh onion I can caramelize. As always, thanks for the great ideas!

    • Martha says:

Oh Kebba, your dinner sounds like it will be amazing especially the caramelized onions! When I open a can of tomatoes I usually end up throwing them away if I haven’t used them but now that I came up with this idea, I set! What until you see my meatloaf recipe with the left over tomatoes! I’ll be posting that soon!

Oh, you just reminded me that my mother used to make the most delicious swiss steak! For sure, I’ll need to find a recipe for that. Your dinner looks exquisite!

  6. Well Martha, I also had cucumber and tomatoes today. No cheese on mine though…that was a new twist for me. 😁

I was in too many meetings today to cook so I went to the vegan restaurant near me and bought a slice of eggplant pizza and vegan crumb-caramel cheesecake. It was simple and delicious. Thanks for sharing your dinner with us.

  7. Even cheaper if one can stand to leave off the cheese & vinegar, which I can. The steak recipe is brilliant. Why not have the flavor of Swiss Steak without extra fat and flour added!

You have a point there Priscilla, I can go with the cheese and vinegar but I love cheese! Actually the vinegar was a review product so it was free. LOL The steak was so tender and so delicious!
