Update on My Pepper Plant

Today is the last Friday in June so it’s my last Friday Story Time by Lia for the June CCBC! I’ve had fun sharing my stories with you every Friday and today I’ve got an update on my pepper plant from Lowes.

During the month of April I participated in Lowes Home Improvement Garden to Grow Kits. The first week of the give-away I received a big Lowe’s pail with a bag of Miracle Gro potting soil and fertilizer plus a pair of garden gloves! Then I had the choice to pick a pepper or tomato plant and I picked a pepper. Pop loves stuffed peppers so I pick the pepper plant so I could make him one! I dug a hole in the garden and carefully put the pepper plant in. Next I covered the hole with the soil and watered it good. Pop and I watered the garden every morning and it only took a few weeks to see little pepper blossoms already growing!

I would check my garden everyday and was so excited to see all the pepper and squash blossoms. But the biggest excitement was when my peppers were big enough to pick!

Have you ever seen purple peppers? We have both purple and green peppers growing in our garden this year.

It was time to pick my peppers the other day and I was so excited. Look at how big this pepper is! I’m going to make pop a stuffed pepper for dinner, he will be so surprised! That is one of his favorite meals!

Ma helped me brown ground beef and we added tomato sauce and cooked rice to it. I stuffed pop’s pepper with the mixture, covered the dish with aluminum foil and cooked it for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Pop was so surprised when I brought the stuffed pepper over to him. Ma doesn’t like stuffed peppers but she loves the stuffing which is like Spanish Rice so she had a plate of that with a salad! Two delicious meals and pop said the pepper was the best! Hope you enjoyed reading my update on my pepper plant for Friday Story Time by Lia.

Last year we had so many peppers in our garden and I helped ma freeze them. This is my blog where I learned how to cut and freeze the peppers. http://themarthareview.com/lia-learning-to-cut-peppers/

You might have seen my blog the other day about Pepper Faces I made from the left over pepper pieces. I know we aren’t suppose to play with our food but it was fun making pepper faces from the scraps! Thank you all for visiting my Friday Story Time by Lia blogs, I’ll be sharing more exciting blogs and see you in the next blog challenge!

Purple peppers? Those are too pretty to eat! I always enjoy Storytime with Lia!

The first time we grew purple peppers I thought the same thing Dominique. I left them in the fridge because they were so pretty but ended up rotting! They look great on a veggie platter with yellow, orange, green and purple slices!

  2. Hi Lia and Martha, YUM :p I love stuffed peppers, too, and I have not seen a purple pepper before your post. Great job this month on your Friday blog posts. I had a great time reading about your experiences with gardening, cooking, playing with family and friends, watching butterflies, recognizing sounds in the skies, voyaging on the waters, and your beautiful art. Wow, Lia, you have so many wonderful talents, just like your ma. Looking forward to more of your awesome adventures, keep up the great work! Thank you for sharing. Sending lots of love and gratitude. Jaime

Thank you Jaime from Lia and me. Lia loves to try everything and she learns so much by doing all her projects. She has a great start of life!

very nice article Lia and the peppers look great. Here is an idea about the leftover scraps. Except for the stem which you don’t need to save, try to save the scraps to be added to a vegetable omelette the next morning, the peppers with a little onion and maybe some cheese make a great breakfast.

    • Martha says:

Now why didn’t I think of that Chef William! There aren’t a lot of scraps but enough for an omelette! I could always put them in a freezer bag to have when needed! Thanks for the tip.

That’s my dream Amrita, to have Lia relive her younger years as she reads all her blogs. I need to get started on printing them out!
