The Future

The future, what changes were made in the past and where do you see yourself going? I am a day late with the suggested UBC topic because yesterday I made the most awesomest (this isn’t a word but they were awesome!!) porkchops and so many of my readers wanted the recipe so I flip-flopped my topics.

If you missed the pork chop recipe blog, here it is: http://themarthareview.com/mouth-watering-pork-chops

So now onto my future…….. The past two years have had major changes and if you want to follow me into my future, you may want to see where I’ve been in the past. 2016 was a year we wished never happened with my 20 year old granddaughter having major surgery for a tumor in her chest wall that was also tangled in her spinal cord. Surgery went well and Alex was recovering throughout the end of 2016 and early 2017. But what had changed in 2017 was hubby and my 50th wedding anniversary AND my 50th high school reunion! http://themarthareview.com/what-has-changed/

One major change that happened in 2017 after I wrote my October blog was our granddaughter moved back to South Carolina in November after recouperating from her surgery the previous year. Papa, I and her sweetie patiently waited almost two years for this day to arrive.

Our big announcement of 2018 was when we announced the closing of our 53 year interior decorating business. Both our granddaughter and grandson starting “working” with us when they were a few weeks old! Hubby and I put our heart and sole in Mar-C’s Interiors but with health ailments, it was time to do some soul searching and close our doors. This is the chapter I wrote last year. http://themarthareview.com/where-do-you-see-yourself-going/

So here we are, another year gone by and this year has been the most wonderful, joyous and loving year you can imagine. Our 5th great granddaughter was born August 23, 2018 and she is the sweetest and most compassonate little one I’ve seen. Watching Lia change and learn new things month by month has been the best ever.

Lia celebrated her 1st birthday August 23, 2019 and it seems once they hit a year old, babies aren’t babies anymore! She’s like a little person, very independent but so very loving and adored by her mommy and daddy.

As for the future, I’m not sure what the stars have in store for hubby and me. We are working on our own schedule, not getting back logged on draperies but still enjoying designing treatments and keeping babies wrapped in Mama’s Minkys with Lia inspecting them before they leave.

Hubby is 73, I’m 71 but with our granddaughter and great granddaughter around us, they keep us young at heart……we shall see where the path takes us over the next year or two.

I started my blog on Christmas Day 2014 mainly to review products I received. Since then it has evolved into many other categories of lifestyles, family, money saving ideas, low cost, delicious and healthy meals plus other surprise posts. My granddaughter has her own category, Alex's Articles and the latest addition to my blog is my great granddaughter now has her category, Lia's Likings The Baby Blogger! Lia started blogger at 8 months old and she now has a Friday Story Time blog you won't want to miss! I welcome you to join the conversation, ask a question, give a suggestion or leave a comment on any blog post. I hope you enjoy Lia's Likings, she has some great posts that will make you smile!

  1. Yes, Martha. When we have young’uns traipsing around our home (love the pitter patter of those little- or even bigger- feet), we find ourselves kept younger than would have been if we were by our lonesomes.
Glad it’s making your each and every day.

There is nothing better than litte (or big) pitter patter of feet Roy! We never know what adventure will be next with Lia and her mommy and daddy.
