Quick and Easy Ideas

I’m sharing a few quick and easy ideas I’ve come up with to make life a bit easier. The other day I shared about me saving potato chip and broccoli crumbs so now I want to share a few other ideas.

The other day I was looking for my jar of jewelry cleaning to no avail. Rich’s medal needed cleaning bad. I decided to add a few drops of Dawn liquid dish soap with a small amount of water and let the medal soak for about 15 minutes. Next I brushed it with a soft toothbrush and I wish I had taken a before picture because it was almost black! As soon as I removed it from the solution, I rinsed it off and it looked like new! Then I decided to toss in my family birthstone ring and that too came out sparkling again.

My next idea is great for anyone who uses insulated bags for shopping or deliveries. I deliver for Door Dash and Uber and while the bags are sturdy they have a soft bottom . When I add bags from the restaurants I wanted a more sturdy bottom so the food trays stay flat. I found the perfect collapsible plastic unit stored in the garage that is the perfect size for my large delivery bag. Now I don’t have to worry about the bags tipping over while driving.

I have a few smaller bags and I searched the garage and found two plastic containers that were perfect for them too! All these storage containers are easy to clean and sanitizer after each delivery. The pink basket was Lia’s for her jewelry making until she needed a larger one so I made good use of it.

This one is perfect to hold a drink container with no worries of the bottom of the cardboard falling apart!

Speaking of unused containers, when we got a new paper shredder, I saved the bucket from the old one. It’s been in the garage for years where it stored cleaning bottles. Then I had a cool idea. I have so many bottles under the kitchen sink and kept getting knocked over when I went to reach for something else. I had the perfect spot to slide the bucket under the sink and hung some of the bottles around the edge. I can pull it out, grab the bottle I need and not have to worry about the others getting misplaced. I have room on the bottom to store smaller bottles too.

Hope some of these ideas can give you some ideas!

  1. Martha, awesome! And how great that your internet is back!! I use mine a lot, from waking until sleeping. Yuk when it’s out! Your delivery bags look great. I have used stiff shoeboxes in the bottom of a tote bag, to give it some shape and heft– and that created a purse organizer I hadn’t planned on. The spray bottles– we are thinking alike again! I have laundry baskets that are not strong but have steel frames; I have begun hanging the spray bottles like stain spray on the frame of the laundry baskets. What a time and hassle saver. Thanks for the great post!

  2. Those are great tips! That’s amazing what you were able to do with Rich’s medal and your ring. My roommate used toothpaste and a toothbrush on one of hers. I’m glad you have the Internet back.

Love quick and easy ideas, Martha. We have Dawn liquid detergent but no jewelry to clean. You are a busy (delivery also) lady. Much admiration from me.

Martha, you are full of surprises. I mean I know you’re very creative when it comes to gardening, cooking and all things around the house basically, but I had no idea you were an Uber Eat driver. I bet you have some stories to share from these activities?

Yes Tamara I’m just full of surprises! Been an Uber Eats and Door Dash delivery person for a few years and it’s fun. Rich drives and I run and get the food and deliver it. I’ll have to share some of my stories sometime!

  6. Some great ideas you have. 🙂
