National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day

Chocolate chip cookies has always been my favorite cookie since I’ve been a young girl. I remember my grandmother making them and her and I would have a cold glass of milk with cookies right out of the oven! They were delicious and every time I make chocolate chip cookies I think of my grandmother. Today is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day and I think it will be the perfect day for Lia and me to make a batch and have a cold glass of milk with them just like when I helped my grandmother.

I usually use the recipe from Nestles Toll House chocolate chips but I also made a batch of Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookies with only four ingredients! Yes, FOUR ingredients unless you want to add almond flavoring like I do then it’s 5 ingredients. The cookies are so soft and yummy and yes you need a glass of cold milk with these too!

Besides being delicious check out how easy they are to make!  You will need:

1 cup peanut butter

1 cup granulated sugar

2 eggs

1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Bake 10 – 12 minutes in 350 degree oven.

That’s it, however I love almond flavoring so I added 1/2 teaspoon to the batter. Even with five ingredients it’s quick!

Last October Lia wrote a blog about National Cookie Day and out of all the cookies she makes, Lia decided to write about her Unicorn White Chocolate Chip Cookies! Lia used the basic chocolate chip cookie recipe from Nestles Toll House chocolate chips but we divided the batter and added Unicorn white chocolate chips in one part and chocolate chips in the other part. So she got two delicious kinds of chocolate chip cookies from one batch of cookies!

Will you be baking on National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day? I know Lia and I will and we’ll have cold milk ready for when the cookies come out of the oven!

EIDT: Well I must have been on the wrong page because I just checked again and it’s National Peanut Butter Cookie Day! I still love chocolate chip cookies and the first recipe was peanut butter chocolate chip cookies so I’m half way on the right page!!! Go enjoy your favorite peanut butter cookie, Lia and I will still be making chocolate chip cookies today!

  1. Hi Martha and Lia, YUM, cooookies! What is funny, when I read the title, National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, I was excited because I love cookies, but I also was wishing for peanut butter cookies because they are my favorite. When I finished reading your post, it was like my wish came true! Great pictures of Lia baking and lovely recipe with peanut butter chocolate chip cookies (I think I would add the unicorn white chocolate chips, too)! Thank you for sharing! Sending lots of love and gratitude. Jaime

I’ glad I had my cookies mixed up Jaime! Lia loves peanut butter too and that recipe is so easy to make. There are so many alternatives you can add instead of chocolate chips. I live to add cranberries, nuts, and even make them plain and add a thumbprint and fill with strawberry jam. It’s that having a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! Lia and I thank you for visiting and sending your hugs!
