NATIONAL CHEESE LOVERS DAY
How perfect is this! Today is National Cheese Lovers Day plus the suggested topic for the Ultimate Blog Challenge is “Share Your Two Cents”. So you guessed it, I’m sharing my two cents about National Cheese Lovers Day! My granddaughter and I both love cheese and it seems like we can throw cheese into just about any meal we are preparing. When I’m cooking meals with cheese, I get a bit carried away with cheese overload! Whether it be omelets, eggplant, tuna sandwiches or my famous grilled cheese sandwiches, I can’t get enough cheese! Of course don’t forget my chicken Parmesan, twice baked potatoes lined with cheese or meatballs and steak subs smothered with cheese. When my granddaughter works the late shift, I smell the cheesy noodles or broccoli with cheese noodles she is cooking at 11:00 PM!
The drawer in our fridge is always loaded with different cheeses but the other day I nearly had a breakdown. I opened the drawer and there was one bag with just a few crumbs of shredded cheese left!! I already had my potato ready to stuff with bacon and cheese so I had to get creative. I rummaged through the drawer and found a few slices of mozzarella cheese so I broke it in small pieces, mixed with the shredded cheese and had just enough for my potato. Meanwhile, I warned my granddaughter the drawer was empty!
Now for those who know me, I shop with coupons and if I can’t find one, I wait until I do before I make a purchase. That is unless it’s cheese! So I went to Aldi and got two large bags of shredded cheese for $1.89 each. That was cheaper than getting a name brand with a coupon, so it was a win-win.
Here I am, writing my National Cheese Lovers Day blog while munching on a bag of baked cheese puffs and the bag is almost gone!
I thought today would be perfect to share some of my blogs that have recipes with cheese. If you like grilled cheese sandwiches, you’ll want to try my 7 layer grilled cheese with bacon sandwich! It is so delicious!

Do you like eggplant? I came up with my baked eggplant boat last summer when I was overloaded with eggplant from our garden. It’s quick and easy to make plus very filling!

Do you like omelets for breakfast? How about dinner? I could eat them for any meal and this is another filling meal that is quick to prepare. Doesn’t this look delicious?

I love green bean casserole but as I was preparing it I realized I didn’t have any cream of mushroom or even cream of chicken soup. But no worries, I come up with a new recipe. You guessed it, I used cheese!

My baked potato boat is a meal in itself. I add beef, chicken or ham plus vegetables and cheese. There aren’t even any baking pans to wash since it’s cooked in the potato skin! This is a beef one I made but you can add your favorite meat to it.

Let me know if you make any and how you like them! Oh and in case you’re wondering, I do make my hubby a meal, it’s just without cheese, he doesn’t like it at all! Also I’m sure someone might wonder about my cholesterol, well it’s over the chart, super low!

I am trying to figure out what to do for dinner. I was thinking maybe mac and cheese. This just confirmed it 🙂 Cheese is a comfort food all the time all the way 🙂
Glad I help with your dinner confirmation Elynn! I loved the mac and cheese my grandmother would make when I was younger. I can see it know, the cheese bubbling while browning in the oven! Enjoy your cheese dinner!
You’ve made me hungry again and it hasn’t been that long since I ate dinner! And how wonderful that, for dinner, we celebrated National Cheese Day without knowing it. My son made pasta with a three-cheese sauce and we sprinkled shredded cheese on top. Guess which brand? That’s right, Sargento. We love their 4-state cheddar!!
That’s great that you celebrated National Cheese Day Jeanine! Your inner thoughts must have known it! LOL You dinner sounds delicious!!
Have you ever found a chocolate cheese?
I am not referring to chocolate cheesecake.
Just curious.
That’s when thing I haven’t found Doug. Is there such a thing? I’ll have to check that out! Actually when it comes to cheesecake, I prefer regular but drizzled with raspberry! Off to find chocolate cheese!
I love cheese! It is so delicious! I also like adding cheese to my omelettes. Yesterday’s omelette feature parmesan cheese, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, and baby spinach. Yummy for the tummy!
OMG, your omelette sound scrumptious! I can eat them for any meal!! Thanks for stopping by Alice.
Love cheese. My favorites are the shredded 4 cheese and mozzarella. For sandwiches, it has to be Swiss cheese. Love this post. The food looks yummy.
Those are my favorites also Kemkem, along with swiss! I love how swiss melts into a face on my burgers!
Cheese is why I am not vegan!
OMG, I could never be a vegan either Andria! I love cheese in any form, even my Italian Drop Cookies recipe has Ricotta cheese in them!
