My Salmon Meal Deals

This is how I save money on my salmon meal deals, I wait for a sale then stock up. Fresh Market had Alaskan Wild Caught Sockeye Salmon on sale for $9.99 per pound which is a great price for our area.

I went down this past Thursday and they only had 2 filets left so I grabbed them both. The total came to $14.65 but I was able to make 5 meals out of them. I cut them into individual meal sizes and freeze so I can take out one at a time.

I stopped at BiLo on the way home and got 90% ground sirloin for $3.29 per pound which is less expensive than 80% ground chuck! I picked up two small packages that were $3.67 each and enough for at least four burgers per package. Since hubby doesn’t like salmon, I can make him burgers when I have my salmon.

Of course I needed salmon as soon as we got home from shopping on Thursday. All I did was pan fry it with a small amount of butter then sprinkle with lemon juice while cooking. I also melt butter and add more lemon juice and pour over the salmon when ready to eat. It was so delicious with a side of crab meat salad and sauteed summer squash. What a filling meal I had for about $3.50.

Since we had a few dinner rolls left from a previous meal, I made hubby some sliders with the ground sirloin! I only used half of one package so with the added potato salad and summer squash, his meal cost about $2.50.

I had half the package left over so I decided to have burgers with grilled onions plus the left over salads for dinner today. I even added Swiss cheese to mine! I had two summer squash left so I cooked them up also, another delicious meal down the tummy.

These meals were delicious, filling, quick to prepare and cost less than fast food not to mention much healthier. I have enough salmon left for four more meals and there are two good sized burger patties for hubby. For a little over $20.00 for the salmon and ground sirloin, it was enough for 9 meals.

I also had a little surprise when at Fresh Market, they had peanuts on sale for 25% off so I got two packages to make more trail mix. I like when they have their nuts and dried fruit on sale but this week was only peanuts but I’ll take them!
