My Cupboard Runneth Over

I am always trying to rearrange my cupboards and pantry because of the limited space I have. Every time I think I’ve figured the best solution, my cupboard runneth over once again. So a few weeks ago I started my never ending rearranging once again.

But this time I think I conquered the job! I came up with a totally new direction for a few cupboards and the pantry.

The first step was to pull all the baking pans out of the bottom cupboard and replace that space with all my glass baking dishes and plastic storage containers that were stored in the top cupboard. Slowly I am switching over the storage containers to glass because the plastic ones stain and crack. As I was switching the containers around, any that didn’t have a cover or extra covers were trashed.

Now I had an empty top cupboard and a pile of baking pans on the floor. Time to get serious in the pantry next. I decided to move all the cake mixes and baking ingredients to the empty shelves in the top cupboard. Things were shaping up!

After removing all those mixes from the pantry, I rearranged the next pantry shelf into clear plastic boxes. One was all my granddaughter’s ramen noodles when she visits, another was for all of Lia’s food and snacks and yet another for all my trail mix ingredients.

I finally had the bottom shelf empty and that’s where I decided to store the baking pans. For 20 years, I’ve been pulling them out of the cupboard at an angle because of the center support and now I have room to keep them flat and easy to pull out when needed.

I was pleased with my rearranging, it’s actually easier to locate everything now. But wait, I’m not done yet! Some of you know I write product reviews and one off the review items just happened to be a pan/rack organizer! It’s a metal rack that can fit on the shelf either vertical or horizontal. When using it vertical, it can hold up to 5 pans. I decided to set it up horizontal for all my baking sheets and cake pans.

I had them all stacked on top of each other so when I needed one on the bottom, they all had to come off the the stack. With this rack organizer, I can slide them in and slide out which ever one I need. Yup, now I’m very satisfied with my rearranging! I still have a few more cupboards to go but I did got the one for the cooking pans organized and that just happens to be the only one that Lia the Baby Blogger is allowed to open. She loves to pull out the pans and use them as her drums!

So now instead of my cupboard runneth over, my cupboard is shaping up!

I like the idea of keeping the cooking sheets on their edge rather than flat on top of one another.

Yes, when all piled up on top of each other, it seems like I always needed the one on the bottom and had to remove them all to get to it! I’m liking my new way of storage Doug.

  3. I, too, have limited space (plus I need to have at least TWO complete sets- one for meat and one for dairy). So, it’s a never-ending rearranging and honing of one’s storage.

I’m glad you got your cupboards cleared and organized. That’s one of my chores that I have to do- keep the cupboards organized.
