Menu and Recipes for July 4th

HAPPY JULY 4th! Since many people love to celebrate with food, I’m sharing a menu and recipes for July 4th. The baked beans and chocolate cake were handed down from my grandmother and the potato salad was a recipe my mom came up with.  So get ready to make a mouth-watering meal!

There’s nothing better than homemade Baked Beans and this is a recipe that has been handed down from my grandmother. I love the smell of them while baking!  http://themarthareview.com/my-grandmothers-baked-beans/

How about adding some delicious Potato Salad to your menu? My mom made the most yummy PINK potato salad, check out her secret ingredient!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          http://themarthareview.com/pink-potato-salad/

Of course the best part of my menu is Pulled Pork! It’s not only delicious but it’s easy to prepare!                                                                                                           http://themarthareview.com/bear-claws-great-for-pulling-meat/

No, I take that back, the BEST PART is Chocolate Cake! This is another recipe handed down from my grandmother, her out of this world chocolate cake with fluffy white frosting, topped with coconut.  This recipe also has a secret ingredient that makes the cake so moist!                                                                                                 http://themarthareview.com/delicious-cake-my-grandmother-would-make/

There is nothing more refreshing than a glass of Cold Brew Iced Tea.  This is my recipe and even has a cold brew maker that is awesome!                               http://themarthareview.com/cold-brew-maker/

I hope you enjoy your 4th and if your menu is already planned, be sure to save these delicious recipes for another day!

Ymmy, and no we haven’t decided on a Menu as hubby is working till at least 3 so we will most likely do Sandwiches and head to a friends for a drink. Then head to my sons Church to watch the Fireworks. So dessert would be nice although I might cheat and just run out and pick something up. But I am intrigued to see what makes the Potato Salad pink and will make it soon.

I probably posted my menu a few days ago since it all takes some time to prepare. But save the recipes for another day! The potato salad is so yummy and of course chocolate cake is good any day of the week! Happy fth Glenda and thanks for visiting!

Our menu is planned – and, because of a life’s detour (my blog post for today ends a little abruptly and there’s a reason for it) it is going to have more of a convenience slant – canned baked beans, cake from a mix, cole slaw from pre shredded cabbage slaw mix. Maybe next year! I pinned it to my 4th of July board.

Canned bake beans work Alana! When I’m in a rush I add brown sugar to them and if I have bacon handy, put a few slices on top. Something about adding the brown sugar gives them an almost homemade taste! I love the pre shredded cole slaw mix! Thanks for stopping by!

That chocolate cake looks amazing! My husband would love the baked beans, considering all the bacon floating around in it. I see baking in the near future…

I can’t make baked beans without bacon Tracy! LOL My grandmother use to load it with big chunks of slab bacon! If you try the cake, be sure you have fresh cold milk, that’s a must when I have my chocolate cake! Hope you had a great 4th!

Will try your recipes especially the chocolate cake. Thanks for sharing . Hope you had a great holiday with your family.

    • Martha says:

The chocolate cake is so moist Bellybytes, but make sure you have cold milk on hand. I’m not a milk fan but this is one time I could drink a quart! Hubby and I went to the fireworks last night, had a great time, hope your holiday was great also.

I already thought I was full… I had dinner a short time ago and now I am hungry once again after reading this!

The recipes are bookmarked to be tested out later this week!

Make sure you have cold milk for the cake Paul! Would love to hear your thoughts if you try the menu! Thanks for stopping by.

It’s the potato salad that got my interest! bookmarked the page! 🙂

YUMMY! Are those meat pulling claws worth it? I know when I try to shred meat with forks I always ditch them because it is just so much faster to use my hands.

    • Martha says:

I would pull it apart with my hands too Kammie, only to have pork under my fingernails! The claws are great but the ends are sharp as nails! They do a perfect job of pulling it in little shredded pieces.! Thanks for visiting!
