List of 10 Healthy Snacks

It’s already day 10 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge and I’m taking the suggested topic again today to create a list of 10 things. Since I wrote about my one year healthy eating update yesterday http://themarthareview.com/one-year-healthy-eating-plan-update this would be a good day to make a list of healthy snacks.

Healthy Snacks

Trail Mix – This is my favorite, I make it with unsalted nuts, organic dried fruit and organic coconut. http://themarthareview.com/delicious-trail-mix-recipe/

Fresh fruit – There is nothing better than fresh strawberries, cherries or melon when in season! Dried fruit is also one of my favorites.

Granola Bars – I haven’t made my own yet but that is my plan to do real soon! I like KIND bars, they have a variety of healthy bars, peanut butter is my favorite. I also keep a canister of granola handy for quick pick-me-up snacks.

Fruit Smoothies – These are another favorite of mine. I use fresh or frozen fruit, crushed ice and even add some organic coconut. (Can you tell I love coconut?)

Hard boiled eggs – Just boil up eggs and eat or you can make deviled eggs with the yolks. This is another delicious recipe I found for BLT deviled eggs. http://themarthareview.com/blt-deviled-eggs/

Fresh vegetables – Carrot sticks, cucumber or tomato slices and raw cauliflower are my favorites.

Almond Joy Bars – Yes you read that right! I make healthy organic almond joy bars and are they delicious! http://themarthareview.com/organic-almond-joy-bars/

Nuts – Grab a handle of your favorite nuts, these are good to take on the go. My favorites are cashews, pecans and hazelnuts.

Chocolate cookies – Not just any chocolate cookie, but the recipe I found for my Avocado cookies are delicious! http://themarthareview.com/chocolate-avocado-cookie-recipe/

Popcorn – I love buttered popcorn but you can also top it with different toppings of your choice. This is a blog I wrote on National Popcorn Day a few years ago. http://themarthareview.com/national-popcorn-day/

I hope this list of healthy snacks gave you some ideas for munching on. What is your favorite snack?

  1. My problem is that I don’t like most vegetables. I was a farmboy who grew up on steak and potatos. Our freezer filled with meat from our own farm, Beef, pork, chickens, eggs and my mother would plant half an acre of potatos. But I choked them down I like beans and asparagus but I hate peas, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.
    I like any nuts.
Thank you for your posts, they are very informative.

Well Douglas, you can snack on nuts and hard boiled eggs! I don’t think I could go without broccoli and cauliflower! Sounds like you have a lot of memories from when you were growing up, that’s great! Thanks for visiting!

Loved this post! I saved it for future reference since each recipe is something I would make. Thanks!

  3. What a great list, Martha…. you’ve hit on some of my favorites too: the fresh fruit, the smoothies and veggies (with hummus for me). And the homemade almond joy bar is something I’m gonna try! Do you find the Kind bars are crunchy or are they chewy? I’ve looked at those in the store and have been tempted…

I hope you try the almond joy bars and enjoy them Lori! As for the Kind bars, the honey and oat is more crunchy while the peanut butter ones are more chewy. My favorite, the dark chocolate with cherries and almonds are a mix of both. All are delicious! Thanks for stopping by for a snack.

All my favourites! I’m bookmarking this post for future reference. Thanks!

  5. Fresh fruit, nuts, fresh veggies, hard boiled eggs, and popcorn. Those are my choices, since they are almost instantly available. (OF course, my popcorn is popped from corn kernels in a microwave- so no extra calories)

So we have some great snack tastes Roy! Of all of the snacks I listed, my favorite is the trail mix followed by the fresh fruit! Snack on while blogging!

  6. I was just thinking about smoothies and how I might like to try them again as a healthy part of a meal. But they would make a good snack, too. And I love popcorn! Thanks for these great snack ideas.

Smoothies are like fruit in a glass Jeanine! They are a great snack when I’m working on my blogs because I don’t have to take time to stop and eat! Go have yourself a delicious smoothie!

I love those ideas you posted. I’m trying to lose some weight and it’s hard because I snack a lot.

You just need to switch some of your snacks to something a bit healthier, you may find that you aren’t needing as many snacks since you are eating healthier. Once I cut out sugar, I wasn’t half as hungry as before. Thanks for visiting Amanda!
