Lia’s Latest Art Work

Today I’m changing Wordless Wednesday to Worded Wednesday! I was going through my galary to sort out and delete unwanted pictures and come across some of Lia’s latest art work. So I thought, here’s my topic for my Wordless Wednesday but there is no way I can keep it wordless!

Lia created a new Lia’s Garden Cafe sign to replace the cardboard one her and I nade made years ago. Her new one is made out of plywood so should last longer. The first step was to spray paint the plywood white and then sprayed the top blue to make the sky. She penciled in the letters before painting them bright pink. Of course little Ms. Sunshine had to paint a sun in the corner! She finished her sign by painting grass covered with little lady bugs and birds and butterflies flying around the sky.

Lia drew these two pictures while we waited for mommy to finish with her doctor appointment. The top picture has a long necked dinosaur and the other one has a few kitties. I love the smiling kitty!

This is a self portrait of Lia complete with her curly hair and big smile! All the lines coming off the heart are showing that her heart is beating.

As Lia was drawing Patrick Star from Sponge Bob she carefully drew his bathing suit and made all the little bubbles on it. Then she started drawing lines inside the pink colored starfish. She completed her drawing and I asked what the lines were inside the pink colored starfish. Lia proceeded to tell me they were his bones, the two large circles in his stomach area are his lungs with the heart behind them. The pink outline with squirrely edges at the top star point is Patrick’s brain. Not sure where Lia get’s her ideas from!

This drawing really cracked me up! After Lia drew a portrait of me, she scribbled all over my face, neck and arms. I’ve never seen her scribble since she was a baby. I asked her why she scribbled all over her drawing and she looked at me with the straightest of straight face and said, “Ma, these aren’t scribbles, they are your wrinkles.” Well okay Lia, you always tell it like it is! One of my neighbors said they are life lines, not wrinkles. At least I’m smiling both in the drawing and after I saw it. I love how little ones have such imaginations and their drawings can show how they feel. Most all of Lia’s drawings have smiling, happy faces, just like she is always smiling!

So there you have it, Lia’s latest art work for Worded Wednesday ending with a picture she drew for Carlos for his new house.

Kids’ drawings are the best! They tell so much about the way the think and feel. I don’t think I have ever met a kid who drew someone’s heart and lung though! Gotta love her attention to detail.
The Garden Café sign turned out very nice. I hope it attracts hungry visitors because I am sure there will always be a cookie or a muffin 🙂

  2. These are adorable! I love the smiling cat too and the drawing of you. When I asked my dad why he had lines on his forehead he would tell me that I did so many silly things he got new lines whenever I made him laugh. Thanks for sharing!

Oh Maria, I love your dad’s reply, that is priceless! When I saw the scribbles I was a bit shocked at first because Lia doesn’t scribble so I thought maybe she drew something wrong and was trying to change it. But then when she told me they were my wrinkles, well that was another story! LOL

  3. Love Lia’s art expressions! Thanks for sharing them! She is growing up!

I love how children’s drawings reflect their view of life! The other day, I was looking at my nephew’s drawings from when he was little, and it made me smile to see how he portrayed our family. In one drawing, he had drawn me as a giant with huge muscles, while in another, he had drawn his dad as a tiny man. It just goes to show how children see the world differently than adults do.

I love how Lia’s heart was beating and radiating! How cute was her expression of your wrinkles!

    Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Kebba, she loves to write and sometimes she just puts letters together then “reads” them to us. I was quite impressed on her garden sign Kebba.
