Left Over Halloween Candy
The best time to buy Halloween Candy is a few days AFTER Halloween! We opted to hand out light up rings and stickers this year since many children can’t or don’t eat candy. But when I went to the store I saw all the left over Halloween candy marked down and that got me thinking.
The first thing I did was check the expiration date and it was November 2020. I started looking through the bags to see if any of the brands were liked by anyone I knew.
My grandson like Skittles and my granddaughter likes Starburts so when I saw a bag of 90 pieces marked down to $3.50 (regular $9.99) I snatched it up.
As I was sorting out the Starbursts and Skittles, I had a brainstorm! I could make Christmas goody boxes from the candy! So I went through my storage stash and found a nice Christmas container that cookies had come in years past.
I added some tissue paper to the bottom of the box and put all the Skittles in it, wrapped the paper over the candy and popped on the top of the container.
I didn’t come up with this idea until after I got home from shopping and this was the only bag of candy I purchased. I think I may be taking a trip back and see what else they have on sale. By now the price might be down to $2.00!! Now to hope that my grandson doesn’t read my blog to see his surprise package.
I used to buy Good and Fruity after Halloween- but no one really sells it anymore. I have no appetite for the rest of the Halloween wares. And, I don’t make Xmas gifts- but that is a great idea- or to fill bowls around the house if you celebrate Thanksgiving.
I loved Good and Fruity and Good and Plenty Roy! I hardly eat candy anymore but for the price of left over Halloween, I figured I could find someone who liked it. Filling bowls for Thanksgiving is a great idea.
What a great way to use up left over candy. I love Kit Kats
Ah Kit Kats, they are delicious! I haven’t found any of them on sale after Halloween Amanda.
